Pet care experience
Born and raised in a city that is on the "Top 20 US Cities to Raise Your Pets" list, I know what it takes to make a pet feel as loved and cared for in my presence as they are in their owner's arms. I grew up caring for dogs, cats, gerbils, and even ant farms. My family travels a lot and we have personally experienced the anxiety of leaving our furry family member in the care of others while away. I empathize deeply with that feeling and know it can take away from your trip. I take very seriously doing whatever I can to ease your worry about leaving your pet. I take extensive notes of your instructions, stick strictly to the pets' routines, and send video and picture updates of how your pets are enjoying their time with me. My first ever best friend was my childhood dog and I carry him in my heart when I get to care for other pets.

Hayley was fantastic - Super friendly and did everything she could to ensure Milos routine was kept to. Obvious she has a lot of experience handling dogs, Milo was calm at the initial meet and greet and had a great time hanging out with Hayley for the afternoon. We'll definitely call upon Hayley next time we need a dog walker/dogsitter!
Hayley was amazing and we felt like Rosie was in really good hands. She came around to meet Rosie beforehand and had a delightful manner with her, putting Rosie instantly at ease. Hayley kept us updated about her visits and Rosie clearly had a lovely time with her. We would thoroughly recommend Hayley and will definitely be using her again, subject to her being available.
This was the second time Hayley sat for us and just as brilliant as the first time. Gets on so well with the dogs, kept us updated over the weekend and shows real excitement and passion in looking after them. A huge comfort whilst being away - thank you!

It is important for me to know if your dog(s) has a set routine they prefer and if they are reactive to other animals, sounds, or images. I also like to know if you use specific language so I can have them respond best to my requests. For example, some people simply say "No" to their dog while others will command "Leave it" when the pet is distracted by something. I also like to know if they have any special quirks about them, such as wanting to chase birds or if they enjoy sitting on the sofa with their carer. I want to replicate what makes them feel safe and happy as much as possible!
A typical day
In my experience, dogs are most comfortable when they are able to stick to a routine. Because of this, I focus my care on maintaining the same daily routine that they have when their owners are with them, but I always add a bit of flair so dogs feel like my presence is a reward. Does your dog always get a treat after a walk? Perhaps I will wrap it in a towel so they can have fun getting it out. Do they enjoy walking in the park? After the walk, we can take the long way home and stop for new smells. I want pets to associate me with comfortable and happy feelings, so I enjoy knowing their routines and their favorite things.

Availability
I work part-time from 1-5pm, Monday through Friday, at the local university. I have a comfortable amount of flexibility in the daytime for dog walks, checking in on house cats, and staying at your home for extended periods as long as your pet is okay with being alone for 4 hours during the weekday.
