Pandemic Puppies Welcome!
Pet care experience
After two years of not accepting new clients on Rover, I am happy to welcome some new dogs to my regular crew! My service areas are most of Lower Merion township and the Havertown area of Haverford township. Due to taxes and timing logistics, I unfortunately do NOT walk or housesit in Philadelphia County. I have been on Rover since October 2018, when I originally intended to only do petcare part-time, but it quickly turned into a full-time business for me! I have been walking dogs, setting up puppy playgroups, and housesitting ever since. My past formal experience with animals has been volunteering at animal shelters during and after college (SPCAs and Philly PAWS), which helped me learn the proper techniques for walking and encouraging good-dog behaviors through positive reinforcement. Additionally, I have had two mutts of my own, Magnus & Izzy, for the past 12 years, and I adopted them from the Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees, NJ. My family calls me a "dog whisperer," but I don't follow Cesar Millan's "Pack Leader" training style. I instead utilize methods recommended by the Humane Society: exercise, enough silly-time, and positive reinforcement when they're being a good doggo! I will always treat your dog as if it's my own, keep them safe & happy, and keep you updated on how our visits are going!
Reviews
Incredibly trustworthy and has been fantastic to work with
Having Hayley love our home & our pups as her own makes traveling SO much easier. Thank you!
Hayley has become family as she continues to care for our pups as though they are her own. A week away from the doggies is so care free when she is standing by with photos, stories & sweet gestures. Nobody else in the world loves them the way she does.
We have known Hayley for over 2 years and she always goes the extra mile when taking care of our dog Reggie. She really cares about the animals she takes care of and gives a personal update about the day. We feel incredibly lucky to have Hayley!

Safety, trust & environment
When it comes to safety, I am an expert at preventing escapes and monitoring dogs' environments for items or other animals that owners have let me know to avoid with their pet. For walks and drop-ins, I will always spend 30 mins with your pet, but on especially hot or cold days, I pay attention to the dog when it comes to how long they are ok walking or being outside. For housesittings, I always spend the night, and I otherwise try to spend as much time with your pets in your home as my schedule allows.
Information Hayley J. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know about a dog's energy levels and preferred activities before a stay, so I can plan accordingly! Also, if you have any rules about what types of toys the dog is or isn't allowed to have, that would be helpful to know as I currently have a surplus of BarkBox toys that I would love to share with new dogs. If your dog has any quirks or sensitivities, those are always helpful to know, as well!
A typical day
I will take dogs on walks through their own neighborhoods, if safe/appropriate, or I may be able to drive them to a nearby park and/or dog park. We will also play with toys, as permitted by owners, and get plenty of belly rubs. We can practice basic commands or good behaviors for treat rewards!

Availability
Dog walking is my full-time job, so I approach my schedule in a "We're walking while you're working," way, namely Monday-Friday, 9-5:30. I currently have room to add more clients from 9-12:30pm and 3pm-5:30pm on weekdays, because I have a few regulars who keep me busy between 12:30pm-3pm Monday-Friday. For dog drop-ins and walks, I only go in between Ardmore/Penn Valley/Narberth and Havertown, up to the City Line Ave. But I am able to housesit in all of those areas, plus Villanova and Wayne, as well.
