Pet care experience
- My Clientele - Since joining Rover I have primarily reserved my bookings for people with disabilities and those with acute assistance needs following a recent hospitalization, surgery, illness, injury or have a newborn at home and need a bit of support for a few weeks to months. I aim to keep my prices low and because of this, tend to reserve my availabilities for these individuals - that being said, if I'm free when you need me I'll do my best to help. - Training Experience(s) - There is no regulated accreditation for being a dog trainer, you can pay to join associations but at the end of the day you're getting the same services as anybody who has dedicated time to study it. Whilst living in Kingston I adopted my dog Daphne and rehabilitated her with the help of several online courses/resources, and have since applied the same teachings to about 11 other dogs with success. These dog breeds included : Australian Sheppard mix, Pitbull terrier, boxer, Pomeranian, English setter, Samoyed, micro poodle, Maltese, poodle-shih'tzu, Labrador, papillon, standard poodle. - Personal History of Dog Ownership - I grew up with a Maltese for about 15 years who passed away 3 years ago, since then I have rehabilitated a papillon-aussie mix that we adopted from the street over the passed 4 years. I routinely watch my friend's micro-poodle and also tend to my Mother's shih-poo on a daily basis, who will more than likely we with us during your pet's stay. I have groomed scared/nervous dogs, helped them approach children and done behavioral therapies for dogs from broken lives.

Harrison was absolutely wonderful. Ollie felt immediately at home with him and his lovely doggie KoKo. We received daily updates with lots of details of his day and they were always accompanied with pictures and videos. We give Harrison our highest recommendation. If the dog is crate trained, I'll follow whatever rules you have been using at home for contexts to be in the crate - consistency is the key to any behavioral conditioning. I don't mind the dog sleeping over with me in bed if they want, otherwise I have a dog bed they can use wherever they feel most comfortable. For altercations on walks, let me know what your system is if the dog has previous issues, otherwise my routine with Daphne (my papillon-aussie) was get down - draw attention to me - and maintain attention until their heart rate has dropped and we can continue the walk. No hitting, jerking on leash, yelling.

Information Harrison S. would like to know about your pet
- Medications and mode of delivery - Current training/disciplinary methods used at home (to maintain consistency) - Anticipated behaviours with other dogs and/or children - Grooming requests (teeth, brushing)
A typical day
Whilst working at home I take personal breaks to move around, do tasks and get out of the house either on a run or long walk. If my day is primarily on the phone, I'll do it whilst on the move on the mountain or 'park hopping' with the dogs.

Availability
After suffering abuse from my residency program in Ontario, I'm currently on a medical leave awaiting a transfer to resume my residency in the next few months. This means I'm home a lot. I teach at McGill's Medical School sporadically, so I am typically available with 2-3 days notice if I will have to go in to teach. I know well in advance if I will be travelling, and will list/adjust availability as soon as I am made aware of a change that must be made.
