Pet care experience
I am a retired Hopkins professional and available full-time. Dog sitting has been a joy; I treat your dog as if my own - with love and affection-while following their routine. When I run errands, I'm out less than 3 hours or take the dogs with me, if that's something they'd like. I no longer accept new clients to board in my home but will make an exception on case by case basis. I am available to stay in the client's home. My 14lb yorkipoo comes with me. She is obedient, house trained and friendly. A Meet and Greet will assure compatible with your dog. I have many years of experience as a dog owner and dog lover. Your pet will be happy with loving care. About this sitter: Over the years I have learned to care for dogs and to pay attention to their signals especially to dogs with varied histories. I have followed my instincts with great results which dog owners have appreciated. Dogs are calm and happy when you come home. I have spent time as a volunteer about once a month at MDSPCA where I've been trained in dog walking and providing appropriate care. I am a mature, responsible and reliable individual and after a successful career, my focus now is to relax in a low key and easy setting . You can be confident that I will follow directions, ask pertinent questions and confirm specifics to ensure a great outcome. Most importantly you can trust that I will treat your pet and property with respect as private, precious and just like my own. I prefer dogs 25 lbs or less and will accept larger dogs by exception. All rates are negotiable. I do not accept dogs under 1-year-old. Dog must be socialized. Why I love dog sitting - Dogs provide genuine and immediate response to love and attention and I have treasured this for over 35 years. My first dog was a 15 lb Lhasa Apso, rescued at 9 months old. Lovingly cared for until he passed at age 17 My next dog, a mini poodle mix was rescued at age 7 and passed at age 16 in December 2020. I have recently rescued a 6 year old 12 lb poodle mix. Meet and Greet before visit assures all dogs are compatible. My experience includes dog sitting/loving dogs of friends and neighbors. Dogs are supervised at all times, on a leash and not let out alone. About administering medication Experienced in giving meds according to instructions including liquid and tablets. Non-smoking households only.
Reviews
This is our 3rd summer having Harriet watch our dog. I highly recommend her. She is so loving and attentive with our dog. I always feel like it’s a special treat for our dog to spend the week with Harriet. She is very responsive and sends updates and pictures regularly. This year she was especially flexible shifting our date by 1 day last minute when I learned I had booked the wrong date.
This was our dog’s 2nd weeklong stay with Harriet and we will certainly book her again. It’s like summer camp for our dog with multiple walks each day and a lot of love and attention. Harriet is very communicative and sends frequent updates and pictures. Harriet is also very flexible and was happy to accelerate the stay by 1 night with fairly short notice. Highly recommend Harriet!
Harriet is the best! She took such good care of my baby (aka my dog). Harriet is a pro - she knows how to read a dog's reactions and knows just what to do to make them feel comfortable and safe. I highly recommend Harriet and know my dog will be happy to go back and stay with her again.
Harriet is a great dog sitter, Lance had a wonderful time with her. She send pics of him and kept me updated which I enjoyed.

Cuddling, grooming and affection needs. What are the expectations - how many walks? stay overnight? Other tasks? Will request meeting my dog to assess compatibility.
