I'm a big nature person and love being outdoors, especially when I've got a four-legged (or three - I don't discriminate!) buddy by my side. While I've never had the fortune of calling dog my own, I feel very comfortable taking care of one and have done so for longer periods at a time. Throughout the pandemic, I lived with my ex's family and had the pleasure of caring for their Golden - taking her out on daily long walks, playing with her, and brushing her (Bailey loved this above all else!). A few years before that, I spent around a month taking care of two dogs (a young and veeeery energetic lab and a more senior dog of a smaller breed) through Workaway. All three of us had the pleasure of going on long walks and playing tons of fetch. Not that short walks aren't my thing, but I'm more than happy to go on long wanders exploring the nature found in Edinburgh (Water of Leith, Calton Hill, Holyrood Park etc) or further away, if your dog is well-behaved on a bus. The Pentlands are my sanctuary and I wouldn't mind a companion on a weekend.
