i <3 caring for community fur incl.

Pet care experience

I love animals! So, I meet them where they are like you would a human. I interact with both human and non-human life based on a "person-centered" philosophy ( I do my best, I am a human being who still learns new lessons about patience everyday lol)! My parents surprised me with my first dog at six years old. Daisy Olivia Myles was the sweetest, cockerspaniel, poodle mix I had the pleasure to grow up with! Caring for Daisy at such a young age taught me how to care for unspayed female dogs, not crate trained, puppy care, walking a dog regularly with bladder control issues, A LOT of patience as we played together and tried to learn some commands and tricks for dog and "owner!" (owner feels so formal that was my baby lol) I understand that animals communicate differently and navigate the world in different ways than we, humans, do. I believe just as much as they learn from us, we have SO MUCH to learn from them. Caring for animals has taught me patience, love, and joy, and allotted me more opportunities to practice exercising discernment. Outside of my philosophy surrounding general care (pet care since I am marketing on Rover), I love to clean (vacuum, fold laundry, load the dishwasher), organize (light clutter, dispose of light trash), perform aromatherapy (incense, candle burning, sage, diffuser oils/essential oils), go on walks outside (my complex is VERY pet friendly and has SO MUCH free nature space!), plant care, running errands for folks if needed (small-medium grocery list, dry cleaning, post office, carpool, etc). I am all things community care. If you need help with it I will likely try to help! Just reach out and tell me what you need, ask how I can help, and we can work towards a comfortable arrangement! :) I am very familiar with caring for animals with chronic illnesses. Unfortunately in 2020, after surviving years of diabetes management, I and my family had to part with our beloved, Spartacus. My step-father instilled his love for animals in me and taught me all I know about providing the best care to animals living with chronic illnesses. I shared a lot so please, reach out if I can clarify anything! Happy to help out whenever/wherever I can!

What a wonderful pet sitter! Hales is the one I trust with the safety of my energetic 7-year-old yorkie whenever I have to travel to a place where I can't bring him along. She does an amazing job taking care of him. She updates me often with photographs and videos of her eating, sleeping, playing, walking, and other activities! I'll keep using Hales since her care for my dog is exceptional!

MY HOME ---------- I relax and play with the fur babies in a variety of settings: INDOOR CAT -large/wide variety of cat toys for play! -ample space in apartment w/ moveable furniture my cats love to play amongst! -cat scratching posts -furniture for cats to enjoy navigating -cuddles + pets ofc -Basic grooming (@ neighborhood Pet Spa) DOGGOS •Outdoor wide variety of STUNNING green spaces at my home and surrounding area! (For walks and outdoor play like fetch, frisbee, tug of war, learning new commands/tricks, etc) -dog park (@ my home + Raleigh, Garner, Clayton, Knightdale, Cary) -Basic Grooming @ my neighborhood Pet Spa •Indoor I have A LOT of experience in project management, so caring for multiple pets at once, while pivoting in and out of my own personal passion projects throughout the day, will feel (feels as I already do it with my two fur babies at home) like the animal therapy I deserve! CLIENT's HOME ------------- In a client's home, I prefer the client to set clear expectations about how you and your loved ones are most comfortable with me occupying your sacred space. For example: -when entering your home how long should/would you prefer I stay? -shoes on or off upon entering home? -any safety parameters to be mindful of when entering and exiting your home (alarm, gate, etc) -discipline/communication style with pet -pet personality -share your honest concerns/anxieties Respect is a grand principle of mine, so I ensure to model this as one is innocent until proven guilt respect is owed. However, respect is also earned or perhaps "sustained" just like trust in my opinion!

Ahead of meeting your pet and having the chance to spend time with your beautiful furry family member I think it is especially important to discuss: -Daily Routine -Breed -Common/ Unique behaviors (special cues) -Weight -Veterinarian Contact Info -Emergency Contact Info -Discipline Boundaries/Personal Guidelines -How do you and your pet engage in play/comfort? -Any special situation I should be aware of (trauma history, past history of aggressive behaviors, special needs required/medication? I especially encourage and welcome parents to provide as much detailed information as possible!

A typical day

I really enjoy meeting an animal wherever they are, just like people! I really admire how pets navigate new environments and explore the world we share! (Especially as an individual that has had an ESA most of my life!) I have a personal and academic interest in animals with a background in life sciences and a long time foster parent/rescuer of cats and dogs! Some of the activities I shuffle around each time I am with your pet: Walking Doggos -scenic walks outside or in parks (in Howard County, Baltimore County, PG County, and Montgomery County) Playtime w Kitty(s) -laser pointer -WIDE variety of plushie toys -catnip -calming treats -dental treats -cat scratcher -wet food supplement ***Note the activities your pet and I engage in throughout the day are meant to be customized by you the parent! In your request for a sitter, pleas be sure let me know your preferences and expectations for a typical day with you baby, especially if their routine varies or is modified.

I am a freelance art activist, aspiring Public Health Professional, and a licensed Community Healthcare Worker certified as a Full Spectrum Doula. I do not have a “typical” job, at the moment as an incoming grad student, which is one of the reasons a career with Rover could be the perfect fit. In the past, I have had several "9-5 jobs" : pharmacy technician, grant writer for disability non-profit, leasing assistant, medical office assistant, kitchen manager at Chipotle, research coordinator, in no particular, order. In the Fall of this year, I am moving to DC to complete my Master's in Public Health in Maternal and Child Health, so the transition to a freelance career, especially as I also serve the community as a Certified Full Spectrum Doula, is a strategic yet extremely desirable to me. Pet care has been a daily routine for me (fish, cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, and turtles) since I was a wee eight-year old young lady! I am now 24 years young caring for my seven-year old baby Edna Mode, named after the iconic character from The Incredibles and the newest addition to my tiny nuclear unit, Cinnabon!
