Pet care experience
When your dog comes to stay with us, they are our ONLY visiting dog. To keep your dog (and my dogs) safe I only take ONE client at a time. This enables me to keep an eye on all three of them and to give your dog plenty of one-on-one attention. We have a 6-foot privacy fence to keep your dog safe in our backyard for off-leash playtime and TONS of tennis balls. We also take two walks a day to make sure that the dogs get plenty of exercise. My family has really enjoyed getting to meet all of the different types of dogs that we've had stay with us through ROVER. We get them plenty of exercise, tons of snuggles, and integrate them right into our family life. Please let me know if your dog has special care requirements. I have experience with nervous or anxious dogs and experience with elderly dog care. I can give vaccines and administer pills (even to the very reluctant!). I have decades of experience with dogs and cats, along with 14 years of experience as a hobby farmer, where we raised chickens, ducks, goats, and a cow, along with 2 cats and 4 dogs. (I'm used to CHAOS is what I'm saying!) We currently have two dogs - an 12-year-old German Shepherd Mix, Heidi, and a 7-year-old Coonhound, Hastings. I carry my own personal pet sitting insurance.
Reviews
Gwen took great care of our dog. She sent updates and pictures to let us know how our dog was doing. Her calm older dogs were a good match for our dog’s age and personality. Thanks Gwen!
Gwen and her family took great care of Rowdy. She sent daily updates and pictures which is so comforting. He came home to us happy and tired from all the play and walks he was treated to.
Gwen is Millie’s best friend! She is always so excited to see her and loves their walks together. We recommend her for any of your pup’s walks. She has been walking Millie for over a year! Kay Anith
Gwen and her family were great with watching my older shepherd while I was out of town. He especially loved the daily walks!

If your dog comes to stay at our house, you can expect that they will get two long walks per day, unless they have a medical complication and then we will tailor their morning routine to the pet’s limitations. When we are home your dog will have free reign of the downstairs. Most younger dogs will bring a crate so that they have someplace that is familiar for them to retreat and many dogs bring their own bed or a blanket so that something smells like home. We try to keep your dog to the routine that they usually have. If they sleep in your room, they will sleep in one of ours, if they sleep in the crate at your house, then we will have them sleep in the crate here. Your pup will be treated like one of the family. Our new fur friends become fast friends and fit right in, I’m sure your dog will too!

Information Gwen S. would like to know about your pet
It's important for me to know if your pet has any anxiety, either with strangers, other dogs, certain vehicles, being home alone, or with other animals (cats, squirrels, etc). I have found that the biggest problems occur when I do not know that something is going to be a problem. As long as you are upfront with me about your pet's needs, I will be able to work with you and your pup. I also need to know if your pet has any allergies or any medical issues that might come up. I have experience giving injections and administering oral medications and am perfectly happy to provide those services for your dog. I know that each animal is unique and that every situation is unique. For me to provide your fur baby with the best care and the best experience more knowledge is better than less.
A typical day
Most dogs take a couple of days to settle in and now that we have a lot of experience, we know how to give them space, but still provide a welcoming atmosphere. Pups that love to play fetch are in luck, because our dogs do not. We have a HUGE box of tennis balls and endless enthusiasm for throwing the ball and the frisbee.

I am a writer who works from home. My husband also works from home. This means that someone is almost always home with your dog during the day. Your dog will have free reign of the downstairs. PLEASE NOTE that we have 2 larger sized dogs and 3 rambunctious kids (9-16) at our house. They are great with dogs – we’ve never had a problem with a dog in our care – but the safety of my children and my pets is important to me. If your dog doesn’t get along with other dogs or kids, this probably isn’t the house for you.
