I look forward to walking your dog!

Pet care experience

Hi my name is Gustavo. I'm an experienced dog walker with 120+ walks on Wag and Rover. I have 2 years of prior experience waking dogs in wag, and am looking to transition to Rover!

Gustavo watched our house, giant dog, amd two cats for a week while we were away. He was attentive and kept up the house which is no small feat with so many pets. Would definitely work with Gustavo again.

Gustavo was very attentive to Maui's issues and handled my anxious dog very well. I would definitely recommend him

We couldn’t be more happy with Gustavo. He is professional, as well as being a calm and thoughtful dog walker. Our anxious, leash aggressive pandemic puppy (now 2 yr old) had many issues that Gustavo is happy to help work on. She normally has a hard time when first meeting people (esp men), but not Gustavo. He has a great way with dogs - and he instantly had a connection with her. I am so thrilled to have found him!

Safety, trust & environment

When considering any potential client, the most crucial thing I look for is trust. This means trust between me and client, trust between me and the clients pet, and trust between the client the clients pet. It's impossible for me to accept a service request without a base level of trust in all 3 of these categories. I'm considerate about owner requests and I understand that not every dog will have the same reaction upon meeting me. I try my best find a balance between fulfilling pet owner requests while making sure not the push the boundaries of the pet I'm taking care of. If a pet is being stubborn, I will not push them to do something that may create an unpleasant and/or unsafe experience for the pet, me and/or the owner.

Information Gustavo B. would like to know about your pet

If a pet I am going to give service to has any potential triggers of a violent/dangerous nature (towards other dogs, people, etc...) that is something that the pet owner must notify me of immediately. It helps for me to know if your pet has a more timid or outgoing personality in so I can compliment their energy levels appropriately. Finally, although not as important, it is helpful to know if a pet is neutered/spayed or not.

A typical day

When going on walks, I really enjoy taking dogs on the closest trail, park, or spot of nature available. I find that dogs have the most fun going on walks away from pavement and streets. As a former long distance athlete, I really enjoy going on runs with dogs. I can confidently state I have very high levels of energy in comparison to your average dog walker. However, I also know how to gauge a dog's energy levels and I find ways to match any dog's energy during a walk/run. I can dial it down and bring a calming presence when walking with overly excited pups or with anxious and fearful dogs. With low energy dogs I simply adjust my energy to match their level so that I'm not stressing them out, and can make them feel comfortable with me while walking. When it comes to sitting and general care apart from exercise, I place emphasis on the importance of me giving off a calming presence to the dog I'm taking care of. This will help taking care of any dogs needs throughout a booked service run smoothly without any problems for me, the pet and the owner.
