Loving and PAWsitive home

Pet care experience

I have had fur-kids my entire life. To me, a home isn't a home unless there are four paws in it. Animals deserve the same type of unconditional love that they give us. Growing up, taking care of the dogs and training them fell on mostly me. Which is why they probably listen to me better than they listen to anyone else in my family. When I'm training a puppy I tend to follow a more natural path. I teach by showing and doing and give positive reinforcement. I understand that people have different training methods and I'm willing to adapt to accommodate them. I believe it is never too late to train your companions or to change bad behaviors. Both of my current dogs are rescues. I have had them for about 3 years now. One of them is blind so I'm quite used to dealing with special needs animals. Those with physical and emotional needs. I am looking to make this a full-time career. Therefore I can devote all my time to the love and care of your fur-children. I believe in constant one-on-one attention. Having any other responsibilities would take away from that. I believe that all animals are more than just beasts. They have a soul and intelligence unique to them. I believe in treating animals as equal creatures. With that being said I still maintain my authority as Alpha of my pack. Through my actions and training method I have gaind the love, trust, and respect of my fur-kids. Their safety, security, and well being is always my number one priority. Although I may not live in the biggest house I do maintain a clean home free of items on the ground to make sure that the dogs are not getting to anything that they should not be. Meals will be served in secure separate areas and no one will be released until all eating is done. This is to ensure that there will be no food aggression and everyone can take their time eating. I also make sure that toys that they are given are not hazardous or things they can choke on. I'm currently working on getting a fully fenced-in yard but until then I do have a couple of runners so pups can spend some time outside freely moving around. I am just a half a mile from Purgatory Park and dog run for those dogs who enjoy socializing with others or need to get a lot of energy out. Although we hope nothing bad ever happens it's always good to be prepared. For such an emergencies I am half a mile from Village Animal Hospital and 12 miles from BluePearl Veterinary Hospital for overnight emergencies. I will be receiving my dog first aid and CPR training on July 23rd.

Information Gryphon T. would like to know about your pet

First and foremost it's important to know how well a dog gets along with other dogs and if there are any type of aggressions such as food or toys. It's also important to know any special needs such as disabilities, dietary requirements, or sleeping arrangements, things of that nature. I would also like to know what makes your fur kid happy. It's important to know how they like to be talked to and touched, toys and special treats, anything that will make your important family member feel more comfortable while you're not around. I will also like to know what boundaries you have set for your pet. I personally do not mind if dogs jump up on me but I know a lot of people try to get their dogs not to do that. It's important for me to know what boundaries as well as training techniques I can help reinforce for you so that together we can ensure your four-legged companion has the habits and traits you desire.

A typical day

Long gone are the days of needing an alarm to wake up. My fur kids have me up usually somewhere between 6 and 8 a.m. We first go outside so they can relieve themselves and avoid any accidents first thing in the morning. This is promptly followed up by breakfast time. After which is another trip outside. Oftentimes there's a mid-morning nap followed up by some vigorous toy destruction. As long as it's not too uncomfortable outside will spend much of the day enjoying the fresh air going for walks or visiting the dog park or taking a dip in the pool. Dinner is usually served at 6 followed up with cuddles on the sofa. 8:30 brings one more trip outside then it's time to settle in for the evening. Bedtime is usually at 10. Everyone has their own bed so no one feels too cramped. Then it's off to puppy dreamland.
