I've grown up around animals for most of my life: cats, dogs, leopard geckos, and even a brief bunny period before the population got out of control! I'm now the happy owner of a quirky and lovable cat named Ralphie, but still miss spending time walking and playing with dogs. In the past I've dog-sat and dog-walked for neighbors, friends, and relatives whose dogs ranged from tiny terriers to big German Shepherds. I always strive to be patient and calm when looking after someone else's pet, and generally the pet returns the favor! My most difficult experience caring for a dog was when we first adopted a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel puppy, Guinevere. My family would be asleep by the time I got home from work at midnight or later, and little Guinevere would have tons of energy still! Even though I'd be up until 1 or sometimes 2 am, I played with her until she was tired enough to sleep soundly, then would go to bed myself.
