Pet care experience
While in college, I volunteered weekly at a local service dog business along with many of my classmates, where we help the owners train their service dogs for specific persons' needs. Our school has a registered student organization for organizing students who wish to learn to train the service dogs, and I have served on the board of that club for the past year. I have been volunteering there for 3 years and have completed training hours and public access tests, allowing me to train service dogs in public. This unique experience has given me insight into the special care that service animals require due to how vital they are to the person they help and given me the skills needed to be able to deal with many different situations or dilemmas that come with caring for dogs. In terms of more common animals, my house has been full of animals for as long as I can remember, including dogs, cats, horses, lizards, hamsters, and more, all of which I helped take care of. My mom and older brother both did their own separate house and dogsitting, and they began taking me to those homes when I was young, and I loved the job! When I got old enough, I started to pick up on it myself, and my neighbors and family friends relied on me to dogsit, walk, and take care of their animals. I have experience with many different breeds of dogs, from chihuahuas to St. Bernards from my time volunteering at a dog daycare and the animals that surrounded me personally as a child. I have also worked with training various breeds through my time volunteering at the service dog business.
Reviews
Did a wonderful job checking in on our cat. Sent photos and videos, and communicated regularly!
Grace is a very good person. Compassionate, caring and kindhearted. Someone you can place your total trust in. She is thorough at every task asked of her. She is a trainer and the secretary of a service dog training group. Animal lover through and through.
Grace is dependable and responsible, having worked numerous professional positions alongside pets and people. She has multiple dogs and cats at home and is also a certified service dog trainer. I would highly recommend Grace and her charismatic, caring personality to anyone looking for a dog caregiver!

I have experience handling and working with dogs of different demeanors, personalities, and breeds, which allows me to gauge how to interact with your dog. All dogs have different personalities as people do, and I love getting to know your dogs! I have no issue crating dogs if that is necessary or requested, and I take the approach of patient yet firm love is the best way to work with animals.
Information Grace S. would like to know about your pet
Let me know how your dog gets along with other animals or people so that I know how to handle them in public. What kind of personality do they have? Are they protective, shy, friendly, etc? Is your dog okay to be around children or other animals; is it okay to let others play with or pet your dog? I am an advocate for being respectful of any dog's boundaries and like to know ahead of time what kind of personality each dog has so that I can keep every dog as comfortable and safe as possible.
A typical day
I love getting to know the different personalities of dogs! Walking down by the river is relaxing for both the dogs and me, as well as exploring the Blackhawk State Park trails, or walking around all of the different college campuses. It is so important for dogs to get both physical and mental exercise, so I'm always looking for ways to keep your dog engaged.

I just finished up my Bachelor's degree and an internship in Washington, D.C.! After moving back to the Quad Cities, I'm now looking to get my animal fix while on the job hunt. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity while job hunting, so I am fully free until I find a full-time job! If you have a need but my schedule looks full, please still reach out and I'd love to work something out with you!
