Care for humanity's best: our pets.

Pet care experience

I grew up in the midwest with a family of 4 kids and 5 dogs. I wanted to be a vet and volunteered at a clinic through middle school summers, then quickly became the go-to petsitter for a lot of families in the neighborhood. My love for pets has never left. I find the process of learning and caring for individual pets’ personalities, quirks, and needs to be very rewarding (and SUPER beneficial for my day-to-day mental health). I am good with almost every pet I've met, and I do best with "beach babes" (long-haired, energetic dogs who appreciate a moving ball). I get along with any kind of stubborn pet because I like being able to tell an animal has a presence of mind. Your pets will be my utmost priority at all points of caring for them, and I enjoy sending updates and little pet photoshoots to provide peace of mind to owners. I have extensive bathing and grooming experience with longhaired Shih-Tzu, Lhasa-Apso, and Bichon Frise dogs as well as shorthaired breeds like labs and pitties. I also have experience with cats, geckos, senior dogs and puppies, and kittens. If you have houseplants or a garden, I am a plant hobbyist (our apartment has over 200 plants) and can coordinate watering schedules for extended stays. If you do not want me to touch your plants while I'm at your house, please tell me because I have a hard time stopping myself otherwise.

Grace was great! Bodie loved her from the minute she walked in the door. We'll definitely use her again.

Grace is the best companion for our three senior pups, Elvis Presley, Duchess, and Snoopy! Not only can I count on her for lots of snuggle time but she’s also bathed them and taken them for long walks! She is incredibly responsive, always sweet and very conscientious about sending pictures and keeping me up to date on what’s happening while I’m away. They are always looking for her after her visits which lets me know she’s loved by all ❤️🐶❤️

We have known Grace for 15 years. She is a gifted student and compassionate caregiver. She provided home care for my father in his convalescence and was reliable, strong and empathetic. Grace periodically watched our dog Ellie, a Lab/Blue Healer mix when we were on vacation. She dutifully fed, walked, ran, and cleaned up poo for this very muscular beast for over a week. She is terrific with animals.

I have had three COVID shots and will get a fourth as soon as I have time to schedule one because I want to get another booster. Every time I have been bit by a dog, I have understood after the fact why they felt like they needed to bite me. I do not make any people or pets do things they don't want to unless I understand why they need to do those things. I prefer owners or their veterinarian make medical decisions, and I will ask you as soon as I can tell there is a medical situation. I charge the prices I charge because I don't like to leave my house but I know how to care for your pets, I will do that and keep your home safe as best I can until you get home, and I prefer to ask these prices if I am sleeping somewhere besides my own bed at night. I am not able to care for a pet at my home unless there was an emergency, just to keep my roommate's dog happy. When I am petsitting, before finalizing bookings I like to set up a phone call or visit to talk about your expectations while you're away and ask questions to make sure I have an idea of your pets' needs, boundaries, and schedule before I commit to any care. I also ask for general care instructions in writing to be able to reference. I then meet those expectations as close as I can and update you along the way so you know your fur babies are taken care of.

A typical day

My days depend on pets’ energy levels. I like start the day with a coffee walk or indoor play/pet time, then I can fit in a second walk in the afternoon or evening if desired. Throughout the day, I like to monitor how much attention your pet is wanting and take opportunities for play and petting breaks when they seem into it. If your dog(s) like the dog park, I can never say no to a dog park and also enjoy walking trails around town. But I primarily take neighborhood walks where there's less traffic, I can look at flowers, and your dog can guide the walk and smell aaaaaalllllllll the smells.

I have a flexible part time job with about 6 hour shifts, so on days I’m working I can’t commit to caring for pets who wouldn’t be able to home alone for 6.5-7 hours. I like to communicate when I’m gone from owners’ homes for longer than the time it takes to run an errand or two. You’ll know the days I’ll be working ahead of time. I’m a homebody in general (my hobbies include quiet alone things like knitting and reading) so it’s no problem for me to spend my days at home with your pets. Many pets like to wake up early, which works for me because I enjoy mornings, coffee, and walking. I walk about 3 miles a day, 5-7 days a week, and enjoy my walks even more when I have a furry friend coming along!
