I've been a dog owner my whole life up until this past year, and I grew up with at least one dog and for many years three in the house. I volunteered for the Animal Humane Society for several years in high school as both a dog walker and a surgical exam assistant, and I'm completely comfortable caring for dogs when they may feel vulnerable. I've also taken care of friends' pets while they're away at school or work. One of my childhood dogs struggled with separation anxiety and aggression towards strangers and another was not a huge fan of other dogs. As a result, I'm familiar with the attention and patience that goes into caring for a sensitive animal and the steps to take to make sure walks and interactions with other pets/humans go smoothly.
