I think the longest I've been without a dog in my family is two weeks! I come from a long line of dog-lovers, and I wouldn't know how to live without one! Dogs take an immediate place in my family and in my heart. My dogs have always gotten at least one good walk a day with some "chuckit" time, weather permitting. Indoor play time and snuggling are a must too! Spoil much? Probably. Brushing and teeth-brushing happen several times a week, with hair-trimming whenever needed (usually pre-snow, so snow doesn't pack in paw pads). Dogs have always brought such true joy to our family, even when they have been elderly and needing extra-special care. We love them to the very end. I have recently retired from the public school system and have some extra time available - why not spend it doing something I would love?!
