Hello, my name is Giannina. I live in Makiki, Honolulu, Hawaii and work in the nearby Kaka'ako neighborhood. I previously worked as a pet sitter in Los Angeles for several years. Please contact me if you have any questions. I am comfortable with all breeds. Thank you! About this sitter: My name is Giannina. I have more than 10 years of pet sitting experience. I would occasionally pet sit for friends and relatives for a few years before I discovered Rover and it became my part-time job. I'm bilingual in English and Spanish. Why I love dog sitting: I have loved animals ever since I was a child. I love witnessing each animals' unique personalities and quirks. I got my first puppy, Raindrop, when I was about 5 years old. I have never lived without a pet in my house (...until now that I moved to Hawaii and my apartment complex doesn't allow pets, but I befriended plenty of stray cats. Haha.) I started volunteering at Pet Orphans of Southern California in 2012 and loved spending time with the animals there. It helped me learn a lot about their behaviors and how to handle certain situations, like stopping cat fights and giving a dog oral medications. In December 2013, my beloved golden retriever Principessa passed away from cancer. I was devasted and missed her a lot. Months later, I started looking for a summer job and wanted to work with animals again. During my search, I found a new dog sitting company called Rover and decided to try it out. Ironically, the very first request that I booked on here was for a golden retriever. Since then, I've taken care of hundreds of animals and have been able to turn this into a fun job. I've enjoyed getting to know each animal, going for walks, doing photoshoots for them, playing fetch, etc. I'm grateful for their owners for trusting me as a sitter for so many years. ADDITIONAL NOTES: *** During a stay, all dogs can be taken for walks around the neighborhood unless they have a medical condition that prevents them from taking walks. I also have "paw socks" so they don't burn their paws on the hot pavement (hello, Hawaiian summers) and stroller that I can take smaller dogs in. Some senior dogs get tired from walking but enjoy going for a stroller ride so they can still spend some time outdoors and see the neighborhood. *** I do not provide food for the pets that I watch. I only provide treats if the pet is not allergic to anything. The owner must provide the food, leash, etc. for their pet's stay. *~Thank you to all the clients that have booked with me and given a review! Giannina was really sweet and awesome to leave Ella with. I have not used Rover a lot and always get nervous when leaving Ella with people she doesn't know but she seemed very relaxed and happy to be with Giannina. She even had a couple of other dogs to play with while she was there and seemed really happy when I picked her up. Would definitely recommend!
Sage, was well cared for. There were texts keeping us aware of Sage's time with Giannina. Very pleased with having made this choice.

I can offer phone or video calls or in-person meet and greets so we can get to know each other more, answer any quesrions, and so the pet can become familiar with me. I ask each owner to explain their pet's routine in detail, such as their feeding and walking schedule. When it's feeding time and there is more than one dog, I make sure to keep them separated to avoid any fights over food (even the friendliest dog can turn into a territiotial beast over a Milk Bone.) I take dogs for walks during stays unless their owners specify not to, like if their dog has joint problems from old age. I also follow any other instructions that owners provide, such as giving medications, brushing, avoiding certain ingredients, etc.

I do not have any breed preferences. I have taken care of a wide variety of pets, but do not accept pets with aggression issues. I would also like to know if they have any medical conditions that require medication or if they have allergies. I ask that all dog owners provide vet information in the case of an emergency.
A typical day
I can take the dog(s) for walks around the neighborhood or the nearby parks. I have also gone to the beach and easy hiking trails with dogs that have stayed with me in California, and would love to do it in Hawaii too. Playing fetch, brushing, teaching them tricks, etc.

I work part-time in Honolulu (Kaka'ako/Ala Moana area) but my schedule is very flexible for sitting and dog walks. Requests for overnight house sitting (at the owner's house) can be discussed and would require a meet and greet before booking.
