Experienced & trusted dog & pet carer

Pet care experience

Friendly, calm and confident with dogs of all sizes and temperament. I grew up with a cat and dogs and gained lots more experience raising our border collie, Jacob, my absolute best friend. I also volunteer at various dog rescue kennels & charities for decades now, working with all shapes, sizes and behaviours, from puppies to seniors, comforting, walking, playing, cleaning, etc. This includes transporting dogs, administrating medication and senior care. I treat all pets as I would my own and enjoy every second with them. My beautiful Jacob, having lived life to the full, passed peacefully at just over 17 years, so it's lovely to hear the 'pitter patter' of paws again! I live by 2 large commons and many other active green spaces, including parks and Epsom Racecourse, where I've walkied & played with many variety of dogs. I look after my friends' dogs and love what dogs give back to us. I also have experience of looking after rabbits, as well as having our own 2 for years and fostering another one. I've used crates at the kennels and at my friends' houses; I don't have one here but I have a large open plan kitchen/ living room so plenty of space, as well as a fenced and gated back garden. I send daily photos, to put owners mind at rest that your pooch/ kitty is enjoying themselves and are in safe hands. This is something I love to do.

Gerry was absolutely amazing! Such a warm, kind, helpful and practical person who very clearly loves dogs and knows how to manage them even when they have some quirks. Gerry got to know the dogs well during a meet and greet, and we were left with all the confidence we needed that our dogs would be left in very good hands. She was always punctual, sent lots of wonderful photos and feedback while we were away and returned two loved and happy dogs to us. Our 13 month old Labrador is full of energy and Gerry took it all in her stride! We had the best experience we could’ve asked for - thank you Gerry!

Gerry was great - really eased my worries about leaving our dog. I'm sure if Missy could talk she would have said what a lovely day she had had. She seemed very happy. Gerry kept us updated with photos through the day. We will definitely book her again.

Would highly recommend Geraldine. We have a rescue dog (border collie) that is anxious and reactive. Geraldine took time to get to know the dog and his routine and built a strong bond with him, walking him and looking after him while we were away. She clearly has a great understanding of dogs.

I feel that Geraldine is an honest, reliable and responsible individual. with a natural affinity and understanding of dogs and a full respect of their owners needs. Geraldine has a wealth of experience, is able to provide a safe, secure and caring environment. I feel every confidence in her walking, day and holiday care, which means that I have peace of mind when I'm away from my pets. Geraldine has looked after my senior anxious dog who required regular medication and a slower pace of life. Geraldine has also helped to train my lively puppy, who is now three years old and remains fun loving and welcomes her like a family member. Through my own experience and my happy dogs, I have full confidence and happily recommend Geraldine's care.

I have a fenced & secure grass back garden & am within walking distance of several large green spaces, where dogs can walk and play. There are also a lot of dog-friendly areas nearby as I live very much in a dog-centred community. I have worked with many different dogs and cats over the decades and follow the requirements you have for them, as if they were my own. I have been dog sitting for many years for friends far and local, and always make sure to follow any likes /dislikes and instructions owners have for their pooches/cats and any house rules, to make sure they are happy and relaxed and feel safe with me. Having been a pet owner, I completely understand how important and precious our furry friends are to us! And would always ensure that they are in a safe and secure environment.

Information Geraldine B. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog/s have any special reqirements, illnesses, food preferences & feeding regimes, eg licky mats, snuffle boards, favourite treats etc. Also, their sleeping routine and if they are crate trained. It's also really useful to know what sort of games they like to play, their favourite toy, whether they like to interact with other dogs/people or are anxious or reactive to others and how you would like me to deal with those encounters. It's good to know if they have any particular personality traits or triggers, so I can try and avoid these and any useful calming methods you use. Please let me know the commands & gestures you use, so I use the same to keep consistency. Also, what they are like on a lead; what harness/lead used, where they like to walk, their reaction to water and how/if they can travel, belted, in the back seat of my car. Thank you

A typical day

I'm a great believer in the outdoors for health and wellbeing for dogs as well as humans and 's great to see dogs, & other pets, happy and stimulated, physically and mentally. We can play lots of games in our the garden or take off for the vast green commons in walking distance or drive to the many other parks, woods, ponds, hills and fields nearby so they can have all the different smells and excitement meeting new doggy friends and enjoying interesting walks.
