I'm 10 hours away from home and miss my dog a lot. She's a purebred Siberian Husky so I'm used to a dog trying to pull me all over the place. I'm definitely not scared of cold weather if your dog isn't, so if your dog has to go in a blizzard they gotta go. During high school I ran Cross Country for four years and still run for the PITT club team, so to say the least I'm not opposed to running around with your dog if they want to get some excercise. Currently my only mode of transportation is the buses and trains so going far away is a challenge for me. On weekdays I have class at 9am everyday so if I'm watching your house overnight I'd be leaving around 8am.
