Have two dogs of our own currently, a 14-year-old dachsund/yorkie mix who still has the energy of a puppy, and an 8-year-old maltese that we rescued. Dogs & I tend to form instant packs. My father-in-law is amazed that their dog prefers coming to me with no treat, vs. going to him with a treat as a reward. Perhaps it's because he wants the dog to do tricks for the treat and the dog is not up for it! I should clarify that I am for the most part only willing to provide care and/or walks in or from the owner's home. Will consider one small dog to board during the day or overnight with our two little ones assuming they find themselves compatible. Our dogs are quite sociable when they stay with other dogs during our vacations. They do tend to want to guard the hearth when home here. Personal info: 69 years old, retired economist, very fit.
