Pet care experience
ABOUT ME *Red Cross Cat and Dog First Aid certified *UDEMY Dog CPR, First Aid + Safety, veterinarian-endorsed certified *UDEMY Treatment & Prevention of Dog Aggression: Biting & Fighting certified All certificates available upon request! Pricing is negotiable! Alongside being the primary caretaker for my late dog, Cooper, (hip dysplasia, chronic ear infection, liver failure), I have been professionally walking and sitting dogs since my early teens. No needs are too complicated or specific; whether it’s walking several hours a day to manage an overweight pit bull’s health, or sitting for a beagle with severe anxiety and gastrointestinal issues, caring for each dog’s specific needs is my specialty (along with giving incredible belly rubs). Cooper raised me and showed me more love than I could ever hope to receive from anywhere else. In every dog I meet, I hope to give back that very same love. Now, as a teacher in Philadelphia, I spend my days petting dogs in Rittenhouse Square, volunteering at Doggie Style, and hanging out with my Rover friends! I am looking forward to making lots of new pals, and I hope to see you soon! :) ACCOMMODATIONS I am ALWAYS prepared with the tools necessary to keep your dog safe at home or on the move. These tools include: -Varying sizes of doggie coats for winter -Varying sizes of booties for hot pavement and cold snow -Wax and moisturizer to help protect cracking pads during dry/cold weather -First aid for any scratches or injuries -Water and treats for hot days and good doggies I am comfortable crating, using prong collars and harnesses! Additionally, dog care can be unpredictable. I am an excellent communicator and decision-maker, on-call and transparent no matter the situation.
Reviews
We had an amazing experience having Garrett dog sit over the weekend for us! Our boy, Bugs, is quite anxious and nervous around new people so we set up some initial meet and greet walks with Garrett prior to him house sitting. He was calm and patient with going at Bugs’ pace. Garrett was very communicative and put us at ease leaving for the weekend!
garrett is great with our rescue pup! our puppy is very anxious and garrett was able to make him feel so comfortable in a new space. our puppy has a great time and comes home ready for a nap!
Garrett was fantastic! Mirae had such a wonderful day with him. He also has been very communicative and responsive, too. Many many thanks Garrett! Hope to see you soon!
Highly recommend! Garrett provides fantastic care for our excitable, energetic, anxious pup. His calm demeanor and attentive care are a perfect match. I already have plans for many future bookings!

For sitting, it is a rule of mine to leave the house as it was left, or better! As a private individual myself, I spend time only in the spaces permitted/necessary, and I am completely content to sleep on couches, cots, or floors. Respecting you and your home is top priority, and self-containment is one of my greatest strengths as a sitter. For boarding, my house is cleaned daily and largely dog proof. The floors are hardwood, the furniture is accessible to the pups, and there is nothing chewable/dangerous within reach. The space is modest, but certainly big enough for play! Also, I am always on the move, and walking/ hanging out at parks is commonplace.

Information Garrett L. would like to know about your pet
-Is your dog social/typically friendly toward other dogs? (AKA if you are comfortable with them meeting new dogs on walks) -Are there any medical conditions I should be aware of/can accommodate? Letting me know beforehand can allow me time to bring the proper precautions. -For younger dogs, are you currently training your dog anything that I can help reinforce? (For example, if you are training your dog not to pull on the leash while walking, it may be confusing/counterproductive if I unknowingly allow them to pull on our walks. Let me know what and how you’re teaching them, and I will do my best to make their learning seamless). -Favorites toys, particular places they pee/poop? -Any fears/phobias? (My sister’s dog is terrified of doggie gates and pillows). -Any favorite places they liked to be scritched?
A typical day
Naturally it depends on what activities your dog finds most fun, but I am familiar with all the best areas to walk (pathways where they can meet other dogs on walks, or pathways that avoid other dogs should that be requested), and have access to several parks/dog parks. I am an experienced toy thrower, adept at integrating your training regime into our time together (AKA having them ring a bell before going outside, using the same commands as you do, asking them to sit when meeting new people), I give great pets, can get active and run around with them, or give them space when they want naps or rest. I am a block from Rittenhouse Square/within walking distance to other dog parks in the area, and I love love love to explore the area.

Availability
As a full-time teacher, I am booked weekdays from 7-3PM. Those times are largely inflexible outside of holidays. However I would still be more than happy to sit/board if those hours fit within your dog's care needs! Weekends I am completely available, starting at 3PM Friday and ending at 7AM Monday.
