Pet care experience
Prior to leaving for medical school, my love of dogs became a slight obsession when I decided to make extra money by working at a local doggy daycare. Some folks would be reluctant to do jobs that involve cleaning up urine, feces, and sometimes vomit, but I did not mind it. I mean who doesn't love playing puppies? The job was never boring. I found that each dog had its own unique personality. Some were outgoing and energetic; the thrill seekers. Others much rather find a spot further away from the crowd to nap and rest until their owners arrived. All moments involving food were always thrilling, as the twenty or more dogs gathered eagerly around the door waiting for their turn to be fed. I fed each according to the strict instructions given by their owners: following serving amounts, adding mixtures (if stated, i.e wet food with dry food), administering any medications (as directed and according to instructions), and giving each dog as much time as it needed to eat. After meals, came nap time and I had the pleasure of enjoying the beauty of sleeping pups. However, the most enjoyable moments were receiving all their hugs and kisses. The pups left enough of a paw on my heart that I would like to do more dog sitting and pet care during my summer break from school.

I got my first dog, Bert, about 4 years ago now. Gabby got to know him around the ago of 1 or so and she was able to train this little stubborn pug to follow commands that he still follows today. To boot, she was one of the few people I trust leaving him with. He's always so happy to see her which only affirms all of the great things I've seen. She is an excellent caregiver with a big heart and would make a fantastic dog sitter. Not only does she take care of animals, she loves them. :)

Skills
Information Gabrielle R. would like to know about your pet
Does the dog have any separation anxiety or psychological issues that may be beneficial for me to know? Does the dog have any allergies I should know about? Is the dog leash trained? What's the dog's favorite toy?
A typical day
Walks around the neighborhood, to nearby dog parks/parks in general. Fetch, tug of war, hide and seek are all things we could do. If your dog is more on the older side, maybe watch an episode of Dogs 101 or watch one of the latest Animal Planet Puppy Bowls. And of course, treats and belly rubs are a must for all furry friends.
