PAWsitively PURRfect Pet Care
Pet care experience
I graduated from a Veterinary Technology program at SUNY Delhi. I have worked in three different veterinary settings as a daycare assistant, a veterinary assistant and a veterinary technician/nurse as well. As a daycare assistant, I would monitor up to 15 dogs (sometimes by myself) in a controlled daycare facility. I made sure to stay on schedule with letting them all outside to go potty, with feeding, and with giving access to water. I did this all while keeping the place clean and with no with issues. While I worked in the facility itself, I would also go to pet owner's homes for in-home visits for check ups as often as requested by the owner! I have a reliable car and do not mind making several trips in a day to make sure your furbaby is doing okay. As a veterinary assistant and technician, I have hands on experience with both dogs and cats of any age. Personally, I have had only large breed dogs growing up (two Great Pyrenees rescues and now another Great Pyrenees mix) and am very comfortable handling other medium-giant breeds. I have also taken care of senior cats before, showering them with gentle love and pets. I am comfortable with administering any medications as needed and with following any specific instructions that may be requested.
Reviews
Gabriela was amazing! She kept in contact with me every step of the way, making sure I knew she made into the house, fed my cat, if she had any unexpected events come up, and when she was leaving to ensure there were no gaps in care or guessing game. Her degree as a vet tech also reassured me my kitty was in excellent hands! I’ve already hired Gabriela again for another stay.
Gabriela took excellent care of Luca, a dog with anxiety and security issues that mean he is not the easiest dog to care for. She also managed to make friends with Arlo, a car who is often invisible with strangers. I would feel completely comfortable leaving our pets and our home in her care.
Gabriela was absolutely wonderful when visiting my cat Mittens for a week when I was on vacation. She was punctual, communicative, and left me with lovely pictures and written updates about my fluffy man every day I was gone. I would highly recommend her for anything you may need here on Rover!

Safety, trust & environment
I help animals get the proper care they require while their owners are away at work or on vacation. Because my dog can be dog aggressive, I will only be offering in-home visits and overnight services. No care services for pets to stay in my own home. I understand that I would be accountable for your pet's safety and the high level of responsibility that it entails. I offer my services as a trustworthy and experienced animal caretaker who will prioritize your pet's wellbeing as if they were my own. I pay close attention to detail and instructions and have excellent communication skills. I own a reliable cellphone and I can send regular updates about what your furbaby is doing while I am with them. I have a great affinity for understanding animals, and pay close attention for any potential problems that may lead to any harm or injury. I am willing to work outdoors regardless of the weather. I have a valid driver's license and also own a reliable car that can handle harsh weather.
Information Gabriela S. would like to know about your pet
It is very important for me as a pet sitter and walker to know about any pertinent and relevant medical and behavioral information that is currently going on with your dog. Whether you have a senior pet with a chronic health condition or a young healthy one with an acute issue, I have experience as a veterinary assistant and technician, and am proficient and reliable enough with helping either kind! - medications for either acute or chronic conditions - daily medical treatments (fluid administration, blood glucose testing/insulin administration, daily medicated ear cleaning, wound cleaning, etc.) - any behavioral issues such as resource guarding, play aggression, aggression towards other dogs, people, children - submissive urinating when excited - history of car sickness/vomiting and/or defecating in car (applicable if permitted to leave home for visits to park) Anything listed, but not limited to - please let me know if there is any special accommodations that your pet needs and I will do my best to make sure it is done!
A typical day
It is very important to keep your dog mentally and physically stimulated. For in-home visits, I will play with your pet using their toys and giving them the attention they deserve while you are away! If permitted, I can take them to Durkee park in Homer, NY. I often go here with my own dog. If located too far for walking distance, I have no problem driving my own car to get there.

Availability
I am currently a full-time student at SUNY Cortland pursuing a degree in psychology. I am available for housesitting within the specified range, but I have four pets of my own which need care as well, so I can try to work around their care as needed.
