Gabriela and I were roommates in college. We shared an apartment with many pets. There were many times where we both wondered if we were going to have enough money for dinner but one thing that she always made sure of is that her pets, and mine, always had enough to eat. On the weekends and in the evenings, we took our pets for a walk and she always found a way to incorporate them into daily outings. Gabriela found my rescue in the middle of the road in the heat of summer. She put herself in danger to pick up a “random dog” off the street and she took a lead role in nursing her back to health. She made great efforts to help find the owner and after months of no reply, we adopted her. She is the true definition of an animal lover. She has always been selfless and puts her pets before herself.
