Trained and Responsible Dog Walker
Pet care experience
I have studied dogs and how they learn, and have become a certified dog trainer through the Catch Canine Trainers Academy. I also have worked for Camp Bow Wow, a dog daycare and boarding center. I have taken care of many dogs privately, from puppies to adult dogs. I am a current dog walker for the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh and have experience handling dogs of different temperaments and personalities.
Reviews
Gabe has a special way with dogs that are insecure and therefore seem threatening. He is calm and focused, and in addition to walking a dog, is often training them as well. I highly recommend Gabe!
About Gabriel E.
Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
I make sure that I walk dogs with appropriate tools provided for me. I am a big advocate for using harnesses for more difficult walkers. I use treats to create a positive association towards me and to show the dog that I am a source of good things. I will use positive reinforcement to teach the dog that it pays to listen to me. I avoid using aversive tools such as prong, choke, or electronic collars.
Information Gabriel E. would like to know about your pet
What equipment you use, what allergies your dog may have, if your dog is afraid of something, if your dog reacts to something, what behaviors I should look out for, and what boundaries your dog has are all great things to know ahead of time.
A typical day
I can play fetch, tug, or chase with your dog. I can also provide multiple enrichment activities that involves your dog using his nose and paws so that they can exercise their brains.
Services
Gabriel can watch in your home
Availability
I am currently working part time in the evenings after 3 pm, so walking dogs in the mornings fits perfectly between my time volunteering at the shelter.
