I'm confused by the glowing reviews since I had such a bad experience with Gabe. I partially blame myself because at our Meet & Greet, I got the feeling that he doesn't LOVE dogs; that he and his brothers/uncle/whoever else lives there constantly have 1-3 dogs in the house for extra income. But we needed a sitter last minute for a long 2 week stay and Gabe was available and Koda came back fine, so that's why I'm leaving 2 stars. I had asked for 1 photo a day and was lucky to get 1 every 2 or 3 days - the last 5 days I got nothing. And I had to nudge him for them too. The second time he even said "sorry I've been slacking on the pictures" but then it was another 2 days. I'm a Rover sitter as well and often do long sittings, so I know that it's not hard to send 1 photo a day. I often send more than that! So not getting regular updates, having to ask, was frustrating. Now the pickup process... My mom dropped Koda off and I picked him up so I didn't know what items she had left with him. The problem is that neither did Gabe/his brother/his uncle. Gabe wasn't home when I picked Koda up but his brother was - and gave me a different dog's bag. Gabe was nice enough to come to our house and switch the bags since the other dog was being picked up that day. Unfortunately he didn't realize that he also still had Koda's dog bed and food/water bowls. Like, he *never* realized, and I guess those items would have just stayed there forever if I hadn't messaged him 4 days after the sitting ended! He wasn't home again when I went to pick them up, his uncle was, and when I was trying to figure out whose bowl was who's, he said, "We don't know what all is who's..." so the moral of the story is to label all your dog's stuff and give Gabe a list if your dog is gonna stay with him. Also, Koda's dog bed was so dirty!! Grass/dirt all over it. The uncle said it's been rainy so that's how it got dirty, but that means they don't wipe their paws when the dogs came in from the rain? My mom is the nicest person on the planet and still tipped him $85 because bless her heart, but overall we weren't pleased and won't book with Gabe again. My guess is that his other clients/the other reviews are for much shorter stays where it was fine to only get 1 or 2 updates.

Gabe was great. Incredibly flexible and has a great house and fenced yard for dogs. Would definitely bring Luke to Gave again!
