Treated as Family - Experienced Dog Owner & Lover

Pet care experience

I grew up around and have spent lots of time looking after dogs of all ages, breeds and temperaments. I also have a wealth of experience with cats, ‘small animals’ and farm animals, with plenty of time spent at my family’s small holding when I was younger. Likewise, my partner has also had his family Labrador and Collie from a young age and has a lot of experience with day-to-day dog life. We welcomed our own Cavapoo boy in 2020, who is now four years old and we don't have any other pets. Our dog is well-natured and loving. Since he was born into lockdown, we have managed to successfully do all of his training ourselves (including all the fun tricks!) so we hope that we can assist if this is a priority or current goal for you whilst your pet is in our care. When looking after someone else’s dog, whether family, friends or strangers, we are sure to listen to the specific desires of the owner, since we know how important both continuity and routine can be. We try our utmost to uphold your training and specific requests so you can be at ease when your dog is with us - we won’t be sending a lunatic dog back home to you! This also means we will accommodate your desires with regards to rules such as dogs sitting on sofas and coming upstairs - personally, we are happy to extend these areas to dogs and love a snuggle, but if you want us to uphold your household ways here, we will be cautious to restrict as and when necessary. Additionally, we should add that our Cavapoo does not sleep in a crate at night but would kept separate from your dog on overnight stays. We do have a crate available should you wish to use it for your dog whilst they are in our care, or you are welcome to provide your own for the duration of the stay. We did crate train when ours was a puppy so know how the process and mindset works.

Freya took excellent care of Buddy, my three-year-old golden retriever, when he spent four or five days with her recently. I think the most impressive thing about Freya is that she doesn't just understand dogs generically. She knows that they're individuals, each with a characters of its own. From talking to her, I could tell immediately that she "got" Buddy. She understood who this particular dog really was -- he's funny, he's a great communicator, he's a negotiator, he's enthusiastic, he's a gift-giver ... and more. If you want someone who will take the time to really understand your dog, Freya is first class.

Thank you Freya. For the most amazing stay. Your own dog is beautiful and my dog was very well looked after. Communication was great especially as this was a first time visit .

Our Cockapoo Pepper came back happy and tired after a night's stay, a long walk, and playing. Highly recommend Freya's care.

Safety, trust & environment

We have ample garden space that is fenced off, which means that it is safe to be enjoyed by both pups and more senior dogs. I tend to go in the garden or watch by the door whenever guests are out just to make sure they are 100% safe and happy, which hopefully puts your mind at ease. I know that puppies can squeeze through the smallest of gaps so I am always with them outdoors. If your dog enjoys the company of others, we have our Cavapoo on hand to offer play time and socialisation. However, if your dog needs its own space or you would prefer some separation and alone time for your pup, we are happy to accommodate this.

Information Freya B. would like to know about your pet

It is useful to know any information about behavioural characteristics of your pooch ahead of time so that I can plan their stay effectively and ensure the safety of other dogs, cats, general wildlife or humans that they may come into contact with. Please don’t hesitate to mention anything you are worried about - nothing is taboo with me and I understand that dogs are dogs, and each and every pup can come with their own struggles. As I say, I am happy to accommodate dogs that may desire a little more socialisation but can also provide isolated safe spaces away from other animals should this be helpful.

A typical day

I have the time to stimulate any pup or more senior dog in my care - both mentally and physically. Our dog has been taught to play many games including basic dog rites of passage like tug and fetch but also the likes of hide and seek and much more! We live fortunately close to the depths of Surrey woodland to be enjoyed when out on walks. We have regular spots we can also walk to should your dog be accustomed to the water much like ours.

Availability

I currently work from home with flexible hours, so I am able to dedicate my full love and attention to the furry friends that are in my care. Dogs here get lots of cuddles and play time, as well as daily walks in the best of the Surrey countryside. Since I have a very flexible schedule, this allows me to do home visits or house stays if necessary. When dogs are muddied up from walks, I am able to wash them off before sending them home.
