Experience with rescue dogs. Patient and caring :)

Pet care experience

I grew up with three Dachshunds, Bubba, Brenda and Victoria. They lived until 16, 15 and 17 years old respectively and had very fulfilled lives! Since I was really young I was always responsible for feeding, bathing and cleaning after them. So, taking care of dogs has been so embedded in my life, that the few years I went without a pet, it felt really off (I'm sure many will relate). I adopted a stray puppy in 2015, Luna (mixed breed). Luna is a very reactive dog with humans however she loves other dogs (even if they don't look very friendly). It took a bit of training with a professional to improve Luna's behaviour, but every time I took her out I had to be extra alert since she cannot sense danger from other animals. A few months before I left my home country, my dad was over the moon that Luna was going to be "his and only his from now on". Early 2020 right before lockdown, my sister and I adopted Coco. Coco is a very energetic Jack Russell (oxymoron?) and incredibly clever. She's always outsmarting us. As we like a challenge, Coco is the opposite of Luna, absolutely loves humans and cannot be/ see/ smell any other animal near her. Just imagine how the daily walks are lol. We developed special routes and special hours to make sure Coco doesn't get too stressed. Last July my sister and I decided to get our own spaces and Coco, sadly, ended up with her. The reason is during lockdown I was a key worker and they both spent much more time together and developed a bond I couldn't break. It would be too cruel to both of them. Now I'm the cool aunt who brings snacks and toys every time I visit ;) This is a summary of my life around dogs and Coco is the main reason why I've decided to start sitting. I know how hard it is to find someone who understands nervous dogs and that accidents happen. And they normally happen on the carpet and the duvet (they do like comfort). And I know how tough it is to leave our pooch with someone who is not, well, us. So I hope I can be the one who gives this peace of mind to you!

Fernanda was very generous with my dog, who is a recent rescue experiencing his first ever pet sitting! Although he proved to be very challenging and more fearful than anticipated, Fernanda provided some very thoughtful insights, and continued to care for him with kindness, which was very much appreciated. Thank you!

I left Jack with Fernanda this past weekend as I had a last-minute trip to make and she was fantastic and very accommodating. Jack was a happy pooch on his walks in the park and people-watching on the balcony. She sent me lots of photos and updates and cared for his needs including his special diet without any issues. I will definitely book her again.

Fernanda was amazing! My dog has anxiety and is a bit reactive so I always worry when leaving her in another home, but Fernanda kept me updated on her behaviour and sent me photos during the day to keep me at ease. Coco was relaxed and happy sleeping and sunbathing as if she were home. It's so hard to find sitters who truly care for dogs no matter what issues they might have, and I'm so happy and relieved to have found Fernanda as I know I can trust her with my pup overnight. Thank you for caring for my pup! :)

I believe the less I can disrupt the usual routine of the pet, the less stressful it will be for it. I'd like to maintain the same eating and walking hours. And if the pet has any other particularities (as in giving meds, for eg). I'll be always watching over your dog and making sure it's happy, comfortable and safe.

Information Fernanda R. would like to know about your pet

First, I would like to know the age and health situation. Also your pet's schedule and any specific needs it might have (is it reactive, does it need to stay indoors and use training pads, etc). Sleeping arrangements and any further information you find it's important to share.

A typical day

There's a lovely field near my place which is great for a lot of running and exploring all the different scents. I also love a "hide-and-seek" game with treats.
