*PLEASE NOTE: I will no longer be in Nanaimo after June 10, 2024.* ABOUT ME: Hello! My name is Eureka and I am a university student in my 4th year at VIU. I'm from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories but I love the Island so much that I came here for school! Aside from Rover, I also volunteer with the ElderDog Nanaimo chapter. I have never owned a pet of my own, but I have always wanted to! I love animals a lot and have been trusted by friends and family to take care of their loved ones since I was young. I have experience with different breeds, such as Pomeranians, Rottweilers, Great Danes, Bichon Frises, Shih Tzus, and big and small mutts (or Northern Specials, as we call it in my hometown!). I also have some experience with cats, though not as much as dogs. I love dogs of all sizes and am confident in taking care of larger dogs. DISCLAIMER: I do not have a lot of experience in working with animals who require special accommodations, e.g. senior pets, pets that need medication that does not come in food/liquid form (e.g. needles), disabled animals, etc. However, I am always willing to learn, and if I feel prepared enough, then I am always up for a challenge! I also do not have a lot of experience with cats, but again, I am always willing to learn (and I love cats!). I also have a vehicle so I can drive to you and yours.

Great dog sitter - good communication with photos. My dogs were happy to see me when I got back but nothing like when I leave them at the kennel - meaning that they were comfortable and happy - didn’t look like they missed at all. Thanks Eureka.
Wonderful dog sitter with my anxious boy! She was so great with his separation anxiety and has many tools in her tool belt to help the dog settle with her being around! Also gave me updates frequently with pictures and video so I could tell my boy was happy! Would have her look after my boy anytime! She cares deeply for my doggo and I came back to a happy doggo! Thanks so much Eureka!
Eureka was wonderful with our pets and home for almost 3 weeks over the Christmas break. We have a bunny, a senior dog, and an energetic 2 year old dog. She kept the house clean and the pets happy with frequent updates and photos.

SAFETY: How will I keep your pet safe during their time with me? HOUSESITTING/DROP-INS: - If there are certain things you would like me to do, such as crate your animal, keep them off of the furniture, etc., then I will accommodate. - I will always make sure external doors are closed and locked, windows are secure, and things such as the fridge, garbage, and cabinets are inaccessible. WALKS: - I will keep a close eye on your pet to ensure they don't eat anything and will do my best to take it out of their mouth should this happen. - I will always monitor the environment we're walking in to ensure both my and your pet's safety.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT YOUR PET: - If they require special needs - If they are reactive and/or aggressive with other dogs, animals, or strangers - How well they can listen to new people/their recall ability - If they are allergic/sensitive to anything and ANY important medical notes/history that I need to know (e.g. prone to ear infections, etc) - A general overview of your pet's personality, especially attitude - How trained they are - If they are house-trained - How good they are on a leash - If they have tendencies to get into food/garbage/chew wires, shoes, etc
A typical day
A DAY WITH ME: I understand that I will only be a small part of your pet's life, so I am always willing to accommodate your needs and wants if I am able to - i.e., if you want your dog walked a certain way, you want to continue training when you're gone, etc. I am flexible and want to ensure the least amount of disruption in routine for your pet, so I will ask you for lots of details to ensure personalized care for your furry friend! I love playing with animals, so your friend will always be entertained if they wanna play. Or, if they're a cuddlebug, I love that too! I will also always give you regular updates and send pictures/videos of how your furry friend and I are spending our time together to help you feel at ease :) When I go on walks with dogs, I prioritize allowing them to sniff to ensure as much enjoyment and stimulation for them as possible. If you have any preferences for dog-walking, please let me know and I will be happy to accommodate to the best of my ability.

I am usually available most weekdays depending on when you need me. For housesitting, I am usually available on the weekends; however, if you need a housesitter for the weekdays, I'd likely be able to make that work too, depending on the dates.
