Home full-time - I'll love your dog

Pet care experience

I'm Erin! I'm a recent graduate from Pace University and currently I am focusing on something I love—dogs and writing full-time! I live in Flatbush/Ditmas Park, close to transportation and a perfect distance from Prospect Park. Currently, I don't have my own dog but I've found dog sitting and walking to fill the void! I grew up with my dogs my whole life and have a deep appreciation for all breeds of dogs. Growing up I had a chocolate Lab, then most recently two Newfoundlands and one Border Collie mix. I was also actively a part of my childhood neighbor's special-needs Boxer mix's later years of life. She had "doggy ALS" as my mom called it and was unable to walk on her back-legs, she (adorably) used a wheelchair. Over the last 4 years I have helped my parents raise their Collie mix and Newfoundland puppies, that included a rigid house breaking schedule, leash training, and various obedience training. In 2017, my childhood dog, a 120 pound Newfoundland, grew old and weak. Caring for him in his last few months was the hardest thing I've ever had to do emotionally, but I provided him with unique care, love, and attended to his needs that were specific to senior dogs. Ultimately, I learned a lot from him and understand how sweet yet fragile senior dogs can be. I feel very comfortable caring for older pups because of him. In New York City, I have been dog walking for the last three and a half years. From breeds as small as chihuahuas to 75 pound pit bulls. I pay attention to the special needs of the dogs I walk and am patient with them, anxiety (whether of the street or separation anxiety) are things I take very seriously. I fostered a white pit bull over the summer of 2018 (she stole my heart) and she had severe separation anxiety—in order to prepare her for her fur-ever home I had to actively address her anxiety in a safe, caring, and effective way. All of this being said, I will care for your fur babies as if they are mine. Dogs are beautiful creatures and deserve the best quality of care, fun, love, and life. I'll have done my job right if I make your life easier and your dog's less stressful while you're gone.

Erin responded quickly and was easy to communicate with. We easily coordinated a last minute dog boarding request which was a life saver for us and our dog during moving day. Professional and friendly, we felt great leaving Rosebud with Erin. Received lovely pictures of walks and happy pup moments throughout the day. Would highly recommend.

Ever since Erin was a little kid, she's loved playing with and taking care of our dogs. Most recently, she house trained and Gentle Leader trained our energetic Newfoundland mix Otto. While he's still a ball of energy at almost three, Otto is so awesome to walk and perfectly house trained. Erin also was instrumental in the care of our aging Newfoundland Snuffy in his last months. Snuffy needed a lot of extra love and help getting around. Erin was able to keep him happy and stimulated in his old age and helped him have the secure feeling he needed when moving around with the help of a GingerLead dog sling. In addition to caring for our own pets, Erin has been asked to pet sit for years, and it's obvious why. She's responsible, sensitive and enjoys making the dogs happy.

Erin is a wonderful young lady. She has cared for our pets many times and are very pleased with her care. She is very attentive and spoils our dogs with love and attention. You can tell how much they love her by how excited they get when she comes back. She gets my highest recommendation. I would trust her in any situation.

Information Erin H. would like to know about your pet

I would like to be told about any known aggressions, fears, or anxieties. Allergies and any medications should also be explained and any specific health issues that need to be addressed. I do not have any breed preferences! I am open and love all dogs. I am confident with most breeds as I grew up handling extremely large dogs and small ones.

A typical day

Prospect Park is one of my favorite parks to go to with a dog, it is always fun for them to look at the people, the birds, the squirrels, and sniff everything! Anywhere slightly removed from the city itself is my favorite place to take dogs to walk, that doesn't mean outside of NYC, but anywhere with some grass and trees to run on leash! We will take long early morning walks and long pre-bedtime walks. Play with any toys and all the toys! If the owner and dog is comfortable, we'll head to a dog park since they're great environment for dogs to get their energy, fun, and socialization in for one day! Of course, some major cuddles are guaranteed! Your doggo may come home with some new basic tricks. My favorites are shake and roll over.
