I have had dogs for as long as I can remember; I currently have two small/medium sized dogs at home (my permanent home in Texas, not my home here) and we have taken great measures to provide them with the best possible care- as well as given them lots of love :) I When I lived in Texas full time, I was primarily responsible for the dogs as that was my parents' condition for me getting them :) I took them each for walks at least once every other day, fed them three times a day (the middle meal being a treat rather than a full meal) and made sure that they had some sort of other exercise such as swimming or playing fetch as well. I also dogsat for my neighbor's corgi, named Coco, whenever they would go out of town. I am very careful to give dogs space when they first meet me, in order to let them get to know me before I pet them. I believe that discipline is very important; I love having my dogs cuddle up on the couch with me, but I insist that they sit before I allow them to do so. I make them sit before meals, as well, and I am fairly strict on enforcing that dog walk next to me rather than in front of me when we are walking (Using the "heel" command)- unless they are a really young puppy. I love dogs more than anything and have a group of very nurturing housemates who feel the same :) We would shower love over your dog :)
