Experienced APA! Foster Mom

Pet care experience

Over the last 3 years, I have had great experience caring for and training foster dogs and pups from APA! I’ve helped over 15+ dogs find amazing homes while taking care of them days or weeks at a time. I have experience giving oral and topical medical treatments as well as potty and crate training!

Penny enjoyed her walk with Erika and I really appreciated her communication throughout the process. We didn’t even meet in person, and she was able to take care of Penny in the way I had asked!

Erika was great with Penny and would definitely have her take care of her again!

Erika was absolutely wonderful and took great care of our energetic and playful puppy. She was also very accommodating when we had to extend our puppy’s overnight stay from one night to two last minute because of changes in plans.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a dog park located in my neighborhood as well as a fenced-in back yard. I always ensure to have toys and treats on hand so your pet has an enjoyable time and can learn to trust me and relax while you’re away. While I do not allow pets on my furniture, I will be sure to cover my couch should they feel more comfortable snuggling up with me. At night, I will crate dogs (not cats) to ensure no accidents occur. I have my own crate that is large enough for both small and medium sized dogs. If a dog is not crate trained, I will work with them and stay close to the crate at night until they fall asleep so they do not get anxious or scared.

Information Erika V. would like to know about your pet

It’s important for me to know if your pet has any special needs (i.e. takes medication, separation anxiety, problems jumping, barks or growls around new people, food possessive, missing limbs, etc.). Any and all additional information helps me to better properly care for your pet while you’re away! There is never too much information you can share with me.

A typical day

A typical day will involve a short walk in the morning followed by some cuddles. In the afternoon, I can take dogs for longer walks or to the dog park to play. In the evening it’s all cuddles and potentially learning new tricks if needed or watching Lady & the Tramp.

Availability

I’m currently working from home and therefore easily able to take care of your favorite buddy throughout the day. I’m able to take breaks for play time or walks to ensure your pet is taken care of and properly looked after. I’m never gone from my home for more than 2 hours during the work week. On weekends, I’m more likely to be out and about running errands but your pet will take top priority!
