Growing up in a house with dogs, taught me great responsibility on how to care for them. I was responsible for feeding, walking, and playing with our dogs. We had a Chocolate Lab who had diabetes who needed daily insulin shots. I also would babysit neighbor's pets while they were on vacation. I went off to college and hated the fact I could not have a pet in the dorm with me. The day I could move out, I did! I rented a house and went straight to the shelter and adopted my beloved Black Lab, Marlie. She went everywhere with me. The minute she saw my car keys or a leash she knew what that meant. She never left my side. Unfortunately, old age got the best of her. A year after mourning her death, we added a Golden Retriever to our family, Mabel. The past year she has been diagnosed with epilepsy. It is a hard thing to witness, but I do have experience dealing with a dog who suffers with this. Then, 2 months ago, we added another puppy to our family, Penelope. I brush her daily and groom her regularly. As a family we go on daily walks, creek stomping, and play our favorite game, fetch. I also, regularly watch my neighbors two elderly dogs. They are on an abundance of medicine and administrator that twice a day.
