I’ve been a home and pet sitter for cats and dogs on the side for over ten years as a college student, graduate student, and now as an applied research professional working 100% from home. I have several loyal clients in Orange and Los Angeles County within and outside of the Rover community and really love this therapeutic side hustle! I love animals beyond measure and grew up with many pets in our home, including dogs, cats, birds, and turtles.

Erika did a wonderful job looking after our dog while we were overseas. We appreciated multiple photos and messages about how our dog was doing throughout the day. We felt at ease knowing that our dog was in good hands while we were away.
We scheduled Erika for a drop-in visit to walk and feed our two dogs for the first time. She went above and beyond. She communicated well and sent us photos and videos of our dogs. We would definitely recommend Erika to everyone and will schedule her again for any service she provides for our dogs.

I focus on risk mitigation as I know how valuable our pets are to our families and hearts. I always carry pepper spray during walks, and make sure that your fur babies are in close proximity to me as much as possible. I know both cats and dogs can snap up random objects or get into trouble in a blink! Making sure to prevent heat exhaustion and heat exposure during the summer months is something I take seriously. I supply multiple water sources while pet sitting during heat waves. I also stay weary of hot concrete during walks or limit walks altogether during heat waves. I grew up in a home full of pets whom all lived well into their double digits so I am familiar with all stages of life and the sensitivity that each requires. I am knowledgeable in common pet illnesses and can spot abnormal behavior well. I can provide specialized care if needed during dog or cat sits, whether it’s administering medication, wound care, injections, or subcutaneous fluids. I am happy to assume other specialized care that your pet may require as well. Just teach me the ropes before you leave! In addition to caring for your pet, I believe caring for your home is equally important for the safety and well-being of both my paw clients and their parents! I will water your plants to keep your fur baby’s yard in optimal play condition, leave your home as clean or cleaner than I found it, retrieve your mail/packages, and assume garbage duty.

A typical day
I love taking dogs out for long or short walks throughout my work day in your neighborhood or on local trails they are familiar with and can be as energetic as your dog needs me to be for play activities. I believe these sorts of activities help to reduce separation anxiety and develop trust with me as their nanny! During the day, I will give your pet as many treats, walks, or playtime as you would like them to have. I work from home and can be flexible, just let me know their routine! You will be updated on all of our activities and your pets' health via text with pictures throughout the day -- this is one of my favorite things about being a Rover sitter! Let me know in advance if you'd like an alternative update schedule and/or what time zone you will be in during your travels. :)

Availability
For overnight stays at your home: I work from home full time so I can be with your fur baby all day and give as many potty breaks as needed! I am athletic and can provide as much activity your dog needs for the day if they are especially active. Your peace of mind is important to me so I will typically send an update over text approximately every 3-4 hours, but let me know if you'd prefer a different text schedule! For drop-ins: I am very flexible about my drop-in visits and enjoy squeezing in a complimentary dog walk! If you need me to stay with your pet longer than the indicated 30 minutes I am open to customizing a duration that you feel would best meet your fur baby's needs.
