Pet care experience

Hello! I have been around dogs since kindergarten. My passion for looking after them led me to working in two pet salons and three different dog daycare facilities in Calgary. It is in those environments that I gained valuable experience with all kinds of dogs, big, small, friendly, and fierce. My calm, patient, and gentle demeanour allowed me to bond with many dogs, and I enjoyed being surrounded by all the happy fuzzballs. I took the responsibility of taking care of 40+ dogs very seriously, and I was proud to be depended on and trusted. I currently own a Russian toy named Zoey. I am looking forward to providing your dog(s) [or cat(s)] with the same level of love and care, and I would be happy to help make sure they are loved while you are away! I will also water plants, take in the mail, and accept packages in your absence as I am a good house sitter as well 😊 Pet sitting is my main job at the moment. Therefore, I don't have many places to be so I will be able to stay with your pets in your home the whole time. The only time I would ever leave would be to go for groceries, but even then I'm not out long. Everyone gets fed on time, cleaned up after, and given lots of cuddles (as long as they are okay with that!) The dogs get taken on walks (weather permitting) because I enjoy exploring new areas and getting the exercise, and I find that it is a good way to bond. I also watch all dogs very carefully when they are outside so that they don't try to eat anything off the ground. I make sure that all doors are locked when I am inside the home, and double check all backyards for possible ways of escape. I never leave food out for any animal to get into, and am extra careful about where I place my belongings so that there isn't any temptation to chew/pee on things. There are frequent potty breaks, so accidents are kept to the minimum, and litter boxes are always maintained properly. I am also able to be reached at all times, since I leave my phone on overnight. Plus, I send many pictures and videos throughout the stay so that you know your pet is in good hands 😊 Feel free to ask me anything that I didn't cover here, and I look forward to hearing from you! 🐕🐩🦮🐕‍🦺🐈 ~ Erika H.

Erika was great! Our dog was happy in all the photos and videos she sent to us while we were away. She made sure he was taken care of when our return was delayed. The place was left spotless, we couldn't even tell she was here! I would for sure book with Erika again and recommend her to anyone looking for great pet sitting.

As always, Erika was an outstanding sitter for our animals. She is communicative, checks in frequently and the animals are always so calm when we return. I can rest easy while I am away knowing she is staying with them!

Erika was wonderful to work with, she was punctual with communication, honest and most importantly took great care of our two large breed dogs. She also took care of our home which is always a bonus, our home was clean and as we left it. We would 100% recommend Erika and plan to use her again in the future.

Thank you for your interest! I would just like to take the time to list some important things here to know before you message me. This will ensure that both of us get the best experience using Rover 😊 1) PLEASE keep me updated on if your plans change/you found another sitter!!! This is absolutely essential for me as a pet sitter. If you don't need my services, PLEASE let me know ASAP!!! I cannot stress this enough!!! I'm always super understanding if things change, I promise 🙂 If I don't hear back from you within 5 days, I will consider declining your request. 2) $20 OFF YOUR BOOKING! If you are new to Rover, I have a promo code that will get you $20 off to be used when we make the booking official. If you have used Rover before, you can still use the code if you make a new account (usually people will go through their partner's account to get the discount). This is also the only discount I have been given to offer. 3) Overnights preferred, but can do day-only sittings as well depending on location and schedule. If you have an event to go to or if there is an emergency where you can't be at home, then I can look after your furbabies for you. I do not provide drop-in services at this time. 4) No short notice bookings please! Please give me minimum 2 days notice before a booking is set to take place. 5) Sometimes Rover will implement an "Extended Care" fee of varying amounts. I can't stop them from placing the extra charge on certain stays, but I always remove it when it pops up. 6) Since this gets asked rather frequently, no, I don't bring my dog with me to stays. She is in good hands while I'm away. 7) Due to recent events where meet and greets happen but the request is cancelled afterwards, I humbly ask that travel plans are confirmed before arranging a meet and greet. I make every effort to make myself available for meet and greets, so it would mean the world to me if my efforts are made worthwhile 🙂 8) At this time, I am not comfortable with administering any kind of needle injections for your pet. Oral/topical medications are just fine, however. 9) Please let me know if anyone is going to show up at the house, and please advise anyone in your family who has access to your residence not to let themselves in while I am there. I have been scared quite a few times by suddenly hearing someone come through the door! Also, I am not comfortable with someone staying in the house with me for any length of time. I'm used to being by myself while looking after pets, and that's what I expect with each stay. Thank you! 10) I am not comfortable with taking your dog off leash anywhere. Even if I am assured that they have good recall and that they won't run away, I need to be able to have control over your pet to guarantee that nothing will happen to them while they are in my care. And it also makes me feel less stressed when out and about with your furbaby 🙂 And finally, 10) If I have looked after your pet, please consider leaving me a review! It really helps me out. Thank you! 😊

Information Erika H. would like to know about your pet

The only thing I would need to know is if they have any sensitivities to other dogs, strangers, being touched certain places, loud noises, cars, etc. I've had an anti-social dog of my own, and have dealt with many dogs with aggression at my work in the past. As long as your dog would be friendly to me, I have no issue with any breed.

A typical day

I love to play with the more active dogs. If they have toys, I will always try to play tug of war or fetch with them so that they get their much needed stimulation, or take them on long walks. If they like to laze about for most of the day, I like to cuddle with them on the couch and make sure they are warm. If a brush is made available, I will try to use it often so that they feel calm and loved. For cats, I will also try to utilize their toys so that they have a good time. Or if they like to nap, I try to make sure the blinds are open so that they have a nice sun spot to lay in. At night, any animal is welcome to sleep next to me (as long as they are allowed on the bed). That way, neither of us feels alone at night.
