Professional Pet Pal

Pet care experience

I live in the Judkins Park Area and am available for drop-ins and walks. I am working from home on Mondays and Fridays and my schedule is generally open on those days. I am at the office in SLU Tuesday-Thursday and will sometimes need a bit more flexibility with drop-in times in those days. For dog walks, I am always on high alert because I own a 3 year old dachshund with some reactivity issues so I am used to staying one step ahead. :) I care very much about your pet, and will treat them like my very own. To me, safety is the most important aspect of dog-walking and dog/cat drop-ins and when it comes to Rover, I LOVE sending updates and pictures to my clients. I know that if someone was taking care of my pet, I would want that too. I hope to work with you and your pet soon! COVID EDIT: I am vaccinated and boosted. I will wear a mask in your home, upon request. - Erika

Super thankful for Erika! She is as very open to dropping in on my cat during the holiday season and was able to deal with the less than stellar concierge desk of my building. Also, my cat seems super happy and comfortable with her, based on pictures.

Erika was kind and such a great, mellow energy for our family wild pup. She helped us feel at ease leaving him with her, and was very communicative. Thanks Erika!

Erika was able to grab my spare key from my building’s receptionist for access to my apartment for the few days she was scheduled and the whole process was super easy for me. Also based on the pictures I received from the visits, it really seemed like my cat liked Erika and felt comfortable with her! Erika will be the top of my priority list for next time I need pet sitting.

Erika was absolutely wonderful and accommodating. When we had last minute travel woes she stepped into help. We couldn’t be more grateful for Erika and the assistance she provided.

My dog is very very spoiled. Yours will be too :) I get along great with cats, and give them as much space as they want, or do not want.

Information Erika F. would like to know about your pet

First and foremost: I need to know how much your dog knows. What commands (verbal or hand) does you dog respond to? How consistent are they at obeying? Do they need to *always* be rewarded when they behave properly? Do they need constant reminders and prompts to behave or to do something you know they know? For cats: Do they like to be pet? Will they warn me when they are doing before biting or clawing me? Are they typically an inside/outdoor cat? What are their favorite toys? What is their typical behavior when they are sad, scared, or anxious? What are they reactive to, and how badly do they react? Do they lose their minds whenever any passersby run by, or do they only start barking if the runner was too quiet and snuck up on them? Can you ever leave food out and unattended or do you have to hide everything all the time? How long can your pupper be left unattended? How destructive do they get, if at all, when they're bored? Is your dog so reactive that they'll walk/run out into traffic? Are they so food reactive that you constantly have to watch them on walks or they'll eat garbage off the street? Are they so reactive to birds or squirrels that they'll wrench you in a different direction if you're not careful? I usually ask for ideas/details that will help me keep your dog's routine as normal as possible while you're gone. What little things can I do to minimise their stress? TV/radio on? If so, what station? Certain lights left on? Where are they most likely to hide/retreat to if they're overwhelmed? Is there a game/toy/activity they like best that I can use to keep them from moping? Even something as simple as 'pet responds better to higher/lower pitched voices' or 'pet starts to purr when they hear their name a lot' or 'pet prefers to eat with you in the room with them' can help me to make the time you're away less stressful for your fur-baby! I'll never be able to replace you, but I'll make your pet as comfortable and engaged as I can until you return.

A typical day

A typical walk or drop-in would very much depend on the energy and breed of your pet. If they are extremely active, we will spend most of our time moving and playing engaging games. If you have a snuggly pet, I will be offering lots of love, scritches and snuggles.
