Passionate and flexible!

Pet care experience

I have always had pets in my life, taking care of dogs and cats (even pigs and sheep) since I was little. Moving away for college 6 years ago was a huge adjustment for me as I couldn't bring my childhood dog with me. You might notice - I don't currently have a pet of my own. I just graduated from grad school so I'm holding off on adopting while I figure out my next life steps. However, I had the pleasure of living with a sweet corgi and miniature dachshund for two years and provided care (and potty/crate training for the dachshund) for them while their mom was out of state for an internship (over 6-months). I consider the corgi my best friend :) I also lived with a reactive shepherd mix that experienced seizures for over a year. I took on the responsibility of taking her to the vet and administering medicine whenever her owner could not. I routinely watch my friends dogs, dog sit for friends families, and even take my friends pets to the vet or to get groomed while their parents are busy. I'm known among my friends as the one that dogs "always love" and have never met a dog that I didn't win over! I genuinely love taking care of dogs (and cats!!) and would be honored to care for yours! I can't wait to meet my new best friend :)

Erika shows our fur babies the best time! She's saved us with last minute requests. Thank you, Erika! We feel so comfortable leaving our fur babies at home knowing you will be there to visit and play fetch! The pictures are a bonus!

Erika was friendly and communicative. She was more than willing to learn how to give insulin injections to our cat. Erika was detail oriented and didn’t hesitate to ask questions if she wasn’t sure or didn’t understand. Would definitely rebook!

Erika has watched my dogs numerous times. I have 5 very difficult dogs, each with unique needs. She took excellent care of them for long periods of time. My dogs love her and get very excited to see her come. She stayed at my house and left everything spotless. She pays close attention to details and truly lives animals. I would not hesitate to recommend Erika to care for any dogs. Your dogs would be lucky to have her.

Erika is absolutely great to work with and or two puppies, Ellie and Finley, LOVE her! She is always quick to respond, sends us pictures and updates of our pups and is very aware of all their needs. Erika even went above and beyond with one of our girls that gets a little nervous with new people. She took the time to make sure Ellie was comfortable at all times and never pushed her out of her comfort zone. We LOVE working with Erika and she's always our first call when we need help with the girls!

In the last 6 years I have had a tendency to dog-sit for 1 to 2 weeks at a time, so I am very open to an extended stay! If I am staying in my clients home, I like to follow the dogs normal schedule as much as possible. I am unable to care for pets in my current housing situation; however, I am very open and comfortable caring for pets in the owners home.

Information Erika C. would like to know about your pet

Any general information about the pet is appreciated, especially if we will be going on walks. History of reactivity, bias towards gender of humans and other animals, etc is important. Important medical history is good to know too.

A typical day

I love to explore the local parks and walking trails, so if given permission the pet and I may go exploring! Any walk outside of the neighborhood (such as a small hike or walk at a local park) will be cleared through the client first! I have experience with handling a reactive dog in public and I will always be an advocate for your pets safety and wellbeing! I also enjoy teaching pets new tricks and am willing to work on any new skills if the client is already implementing training in their pets routine!
