Just you're pet w/ big fenced yard!

Pet care experience

Growing up my big family always had two or more dogs at a time & since leaving home I haven't had the opportunity to become a dog dad myself. Before signing up with Rover (and still), I've always bothered the neighbors to let me take their dogs out on walks/runs with me and was the first to volunteer to dog sit for any friends or family in the area. Unfortunately, many of these dogs have moved away. I'm here to fill this furry void with your dog if you let me look after them! I live in a three-bedroom house in Valparaiso on a quarter of an acre with a large fenced in back yard. I work on Eglin as Civil Service and live with two Active Duty Army guys who love having dogs around and are willing to entertain/help out with them if I’m not around. I will not board any other pets during your dogs stay, unless it is a second dog from your household.

Our senior dog Max had an excellent stay with Erik. We received daily messages and pictures that we loved seeing! We are sure Max loved his big fenced backyard. Would definitely recommend!

Erik was absolutely amazing with Ollie! I received pictures everyday with updates on how he was doing. Erik was also extremely understanding when my flight was delayed and I wasn't able to pick Ollie up until much later in the evening than originally anticipated!! I will definitely be using him again in the future!!!

Stella had a great stay with Erik! He walked her daily and kept us updated with how she was doing. Stella is an older dog that easily stresses with boarding; however, she seemed very calm and comfortable with his care. Definitely recommend!

Erik totally exceeded my expectations in every way. When I saw how happy and just overall well kept my dog hootie was when I came to pick him up , I knew I made the best decision on who to pick to take care of my dog. Erik too my dog hootie out for long walks everyday, which is one of my dogs favorite activities besides playing, or fetching tree branches. Overall, I can honestly say that Erik provided my dog the best care. I wish I had baby sitters for my kids when they were young that would have been as great as Erik was with my dog. My big 185 lb Boy Hootie even looked like he went to the groomer’s when I picked him up. Erik really showed me that he really has that love for animals and I’m so happy we were able to experience such great care for my mastiff. I would definitely recommend Erik, especially if you have trust issues. Erik definitely knocked down that wall of “fear” I had with leaving my dog with anyone. Such a super great , respectful young man. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give Erik 10+ ⭐️ ‘s . I will definitely be utilizing his services again.

If you don’t crate your dog when you leave your home, I’ll trust them the same at my house. Dogs are able to free roam in the house and are welcome on the couches/beds. There is no dog door here and when I let them out I’m always with them. I do have a crate here if one is needed along with one set of dog bowls, a medium dog bed and some toys. During your dogs visit I am happy to walk them everyday, brush them and bathe them if you would like. I've only met a few dogs in my life that I didn't get along with. I'm comfortable around any breed or size of dog, but some small ones can be a little paranoid since I'm a pretty big guy.

Home

Lives in a house
Has a fenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has no pets
No children present
Dogs allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 4-8 hours

Information Erik D. would like to know about your pet

It's nice to know a detailed breakdown of medical issues (if any)/where their vet is located, feeding schedule/preferences, if they need to be crated if left alone, if the dog is a flight risk, any areas to avoid petting/brushing, gets along with other dogs, etc.

A typical day

We have a massive backyard at the house that gives dogs plenty of room to run and play. There is a dog park down the street that I am happy to visit if you would like. There’s a nearby short, hiking trail that leads to a pond that I like to visit with dogs. If you're alright with it I have a couple close friends with dogs that are always willing to come by for a play date.

During the week there won’t be anyone home around 9am-4pm, but I’m off every other Monday, weekends, and holidays. I come home during my lunch break if necessary. If there is a dog in the house I’m up and ready when they are even if it is earlier than I am used to. If it’s a super energetic dog I’m willing to get them out on a walk before I go to work. I’m home during the evenings everyday with exception to maybe one day a week with intermural sports, but a roommate would be home with the dog.
