I grew up on a farm in Williston and was raised around animals, all kinds of animals - dogs, cats, cattle, horses, goats, donkeys, sheep, chickens, turkeys, even peacocks! I've always just absolutely adored animals. I, myself, have a 12 year old American Staffordshire Terrier, a 10 year old Boston Terrier/Chihuahuah mix, a 7 year old domestic shorthaired cat, and a sulcata tortoise! If you only have cats, I can "check in" on them (change litter boxes, etc.) I'm especially good with animals that are sensitive or have been abused and have special emotional needs. I rescued my now 10 year old Chi-Bos when he was 3, and he had been severely abused... embedded collar, plier extracted nails, and barely weighing 9 lbs (he's 30 lbs now lol). It took a lot of love and care, but he's the most awesome, loving dog to my family and me. I'm very knowledgeable about different dog breeds and their behavioral characteristics and health needs (for example, I wouldn't take a brachycephalic dog out in the Florida heat for long periods of time for they are prone to heat exhaustion due to their short snouts making it more difficult for them to breathe when exerting themselves in the heat). I actually just graduated Rasmussen nursing school, so even though my focus was obviously human beings, a lot of the same principles apply and I’m knowledgeable about medications and how to administer them (oral or injectable). My own dogs both take daily medication for arthritis. I also know how to inspect for fleas and ticks and know how to safely remove ticks. I’m very strong and can handle large dogs (I take care of my sisters Husky, regularly). I’m also accustomed to paying very close attention to a dog’s body language, which is very helpful when it comes to avoiding situations where the dog may feel fearful or cornered enough to lash out. I'm very responsible and punctual, with an eye for detail. I do not discriminate against anyone, regardless of their race, religion, gender, class, or sexual orientation.
