I Specialize In Difficult Dogs

Pet care experience

Ever since I was a kid I have always known that no matter what I decided to do with my life I would always have a dog by my side. Growing up, I always had pets. I helped my grandfather and my dad train our family dogs but it was not until I rescued my own dog at 18 that I realized how much I loved the work that goes into being a dog owner. I spent the next few years volunteering and working in animal shelters. I read every book I could get my hands on so that I could help those dogs in the shelters work through their issues and find good homes. For that reason, I will always have a special place in my heart for those fearful, anxious, maybe even a little snappy, but still incredible pups. Now, having worked as a trainer for over a decade, having a pet dog trainer certification from the Certified Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and being well on my way to a dog behavior consultant certification through the IAABC. I have decided to start building my own business. I have a passion for working with difficult dogs. I have seen time and time again the kind of stress that owning a difficult dog can put on a household. Hopefully it will relieve a little bit of that stress knowing that your dog is in good hands while you are away.

Eric has been my dog-walker, dog-sitter and trainer for well over a decade. He is responsible and is loved and respected by my dog who is difficult and challenging. I truly do not know how I would get along without him caring for my dog. I trust him completely. My dog means everything to me and Eric is the only one I trust with his care. Any dog lucky enough to be cared for, walked or trained by Eric is the luckiest of dogs. Eric is accommodating and kind. I recommend Eric without any reservation to anyone with a 4 legged companion. My standards are high and Eric exceeds them!

Eric is by far the best dog sitter/trainer/dog whisperer/canine guru I've ever had. I have two friendly rescue dogs with very different energy levels and personalities. He understood them right away. One dog is 7 and the other is 2. The 2 year old was a stray for presumably her whole life and needed training on some of the basics like not begging and "stay". The 7 year old is well trained but has appeared to have developed reactivity out on walks when other dogs are nearby (she also isn't food motivated so we had no idea how to distract her). Before Eric helped us understand how to communicate better with our dogs, we were so frustrated. He made training actually fun, not frustrating. We have done one-on-one and group training before but this was so different. He actually broke down why certain techniques that he uses work and why. Our dogs are getting so much better every day thanks to him! We loved his training style and overall personality so much that we had him dog sit for us a few times. My dogs are my children and I'm not super into having people in my home when I'm not home (who does?) but Eric exudes trustworthiness. He took care of our dogs and our home as if it were his own. We've used kennels in the past and I'll never go back. They seemed so much more like themselves rather than stressed when we got home. He also texted us updates and funny pictures of our dogs so we could still see them. You can tell Eric truly loves what he does and just wants everyone to have a stress-free, fun, and understanding relationship with their dog. I am so grateful we found someone so knowledgable and caring to help us understand our dogs better.

Information Eric V. would like to know about your pet

food allergies? crated or not? reactivity? fearful? You are the expert on your pet. If you think I should know something please tell me. Nothing is an automatic disqualification but the more I know going in, the better the outcome is likely to be.

A typical day

Every interaction with your dog is a learning experience for them! Whether we are walking or playing I will incorporate varying degrees of structure depending on the activity. Not only will structure help your dog destress, it is also a workout for the mind helping your dog be more fulfilled, and calmer for you when you get home.
