Experienced animal love and care

Pet care experience

Caring for pets is second nature to me. I have extensive knowledge of all breeds of dogs and cats in order to provide the love and care your pet needs. I have been passionately caring for pets since I was 7 years old. Whether it be my own, a neighbor's, a family member's, or even a foster- I believe pets deserve the world, and I am determined to give it to them. I have experience volunteering at shelters as well as fostering dogs ranging in age from newborn puppies to senior dogs looking for their forever home.

We had a really good experience leaving our brand new (anxious) puppy with eric for doggy daycare. He was responsive and great at communicating with us prior to and during our dog’s stay with him, and our pup was happy while at Eric’s! We were also anxious leaving him alone for the first time but felt comfortable with Eric right away.

I am so thrilled to have found Eric! I was very anxious to board my senior dog, as she has never stayed with anyone aside from close family but Eric gave me great peace of mind with his extensive knowledge and the way he treated my dog as his own. I received photos and videos of my dog relaxing and having a great time. He even bathed her so she’d be fresh when I picked her up. 10/10 will book again. It’s also worth noting that Eric’s dogs are well behaved and have a good temperament.

This was my first time using Rover and I really have to say I am glad that I got the opportunity to meet Eric. He is extremely kind and very knowledgeable about dogs, particularly puppies. I was a nervous wreck leaving my 40lb doodle with Eric because I was so worried that he would tear through his home with all of his energy but Eric put my mind at ease by letting me know there wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle. Eric checked in with pictures and videos to show me how much fun Hendrix was having and he even gave me training tips to help with some of my puppy’s bad habits. I am very appreciative and will definitely be booking with him again in the near future.

I live in an extremely dog friendly complex bordering Buffalo Bayou. I share my apartment with my fiancé (who also works from home) and our two dogs in a great sized two bedroom unit with a balcony. Due to being in an apartment, I can guarantee your pet will not be able to escape or access anything we don't want them to. I have an XXL crate as well that can be used per your request. My entire apartment is dog/puppy proof, so there are no areas inside of my unit that are off limits. I personally have two very friendly 2 year old dogs under 25lbs to keep your pet company. My Miniature Dachshund is a lazy potato, and my Jack Russel Terrier is an independent athlete- so your pet will surely become fond of at least one of their personalities! They have many more toys than they need, many more beds than they need, and receive more than enough affection on top of that- so I am confident that your pet will be loved the way they need and want between the four of us. My dogs have access to a full water bowl at all times, as I always want them to stay hydrated. I serve them a specific Science Diet hydrated kibble that I top with olive oil and mix with boiled carrots, celery, or unseasoned chicken. Every other morning they receive a dental chew, and throughout the week I will give them organic salmon treats as well as the occasional bully stick. My Jack Russell Terrier also has to take medication every morning for allergies, so I am very familiar with administering a variety of medications at specific times. My dogs go outside for short walks and potty breaks a combined 4 times throughout the day. I also give my pets an indoor alternative with training pads that is always available to them in the spare bathroom. Once I am done with work, I take my dogs outside for several hours. Sometimes I will walk them a few miles along the bayou, but most of the time I will take them to the dog park. The one that is closest to me is Johnny Steele Dog Park, but the ones that I frequent the most are Millie Bush Dog Park, Tom Bass Dog Park, and Deputy Darren Dog Park. The last few are the ones I prefer because of their overall cleaner environments. A clean dog is a healthy dog, and a healthy dog is a happy dog! If we step foot outside, I always wipe down their paws with a fragrance free grooming wipe. My dogs also get bathed regularly (or on those really dirty days) with an oatmeal shampoo that is especially gentle on their skin. When their nails get long, I use a nail filer instead of a clipper because it makes them more comfortable. My Jack Russel Terrier also grows a good bit of hair in her face, so I do some light trimming for her as well. If you would like any of these things for your pet, I would be more than happy to do that for you! They are also both on Heartworm medication, as well as a monthly flea and tick.

Information Eric D. would like to know about your pet

Every dog is unique! Please let me know a little about your pet when booking with me for the first time. What’s their temperament, are they okay going to the dog park, do they have any special needs, do they sleep in a crate, etc. Please be sure to provide your dogs preferred food and treats as well as their leash, collar or harness. Don’t hesitate to bring anything else that make them feel the most comfortable like toys, a blanket, or crate.

A typical day

My dogs love exploring new places and smelling all the smells. I enjoy taking them on walks or bike rides and letting them enjoy the environment around them. I also like doing little games at home in between outside time. For example hiding some treats around the apartment, playing tug of war, or just giving them the extra cuddles they deserve.

Availability

I am currently working remotely full time, so I have ample time to dedicate to your pet from home. I usually wake up around 7:30 a.m. and start my routine with my own dogs involving taking them for a walk, administering any necessary medications, and a little bit of play time. Afterwards, I'll do some work until around 2:00- but my work times are extremely flexible. Once I am finished working, I dedicate a large portion of my time to make sure my pets get socialization, exercise, and time outdoors.
