Hi - my name is Emma and I love dogs! I have worked with dogs from the time I was about 12 years old for over 10 years at a boarding kennels (every spare minute I had) and have been a dog owner for over 30 years. I am British and live with my Canadian husband Fred. Fred is a very calm and happy person - dogs gravitate towards him, and he is totally a dog person. He has owned a Shepherd mix and a terrier in the past. We have had our miniature wire-haired dachshund since 2021. He loves to be around other dogs. I work from home which gives me lots of flexibility throughout the day for dog walks and playtime! We can adhere to your feeding routine, special diets, requests and give any medications. The more information you can give me about your pups routine the better - meal times, words they know, favourite play, if you like dog parks or not, general frequency and duration of walks, likes and dislikes etc.

Emma made extra efforts to make sure Ellie felt comfortable. This was Ellie’s first time in another home. Emma is very capable, and after meeting her we were very comfortable ourselves leaving Ellie with her. Thank you Emma!
Emma and Fred were amazing. Annie was very happy with their love and attention along with the new treats. Grady was also a great host. Excellent caregiver and amazing communication while we were away.
Emma is great! She looked after Indie for 1 night! Great communication and totally supportive of Indie’s needs. Indie was very comfortable in her home and has a new friend ‘Grady’. I would highly recommend Emma and I hope to use her services again.

We have a fenced yard. One side of our fence is a 5ft fence (so if your dog jumps higher than that we aren't a good choice for your doggo!) and the other three sides are 7ft fences. We have a small enclosed porch as a double safety - we don't open one door until the other one is closed! The yard is grassy and great for playing and our living spaces are open plan. Lots of space for an extra crate or a bed. Our pup sleeps in an enclosed 3x3 ft pen in our family room. We have open stairs but we have stair gates we can put up if you prefer your pup to stay off of stairs. Just let us know a short time in advance.

Let me know if your dog has any special needs/medications/allergies. An outline of their normal routine and a short list of the phrases they know would be great. Also where your dog likes to sleep and if they have separation anxiety, how long they can be left alone for (I don't leave ours alone for longer than 4 hours and that doesn't happen very often!).
A typical day
We walk twice a day, usually taking the trail down to the lake. Very occasionally we go to the dog park (I always look to see who is there and if they are paying attention to their dogs or not - if not, then we don't go in - it is usually empty when we go though!) I would always ask an owner if they are happy with dog parks or not. We like taking longer walks on the weekend and will drive to find new places to walk. Every hour and a half I get up from my desk and we go outside for a pee break and a quick play. In the evenings we play fetch in the living room and we have fun chasing around and practising command words (sit, down, come, stay) for a few treats. Cuddle time on the sofa after that! We do a couple of pee breaks in the evenings and then before bed at 10pm.

I work from home so my time is very flexible. Walks are around 30mins long in the early morning and evening and we go for longer hikes at the weekend.
