Let your dog take a vacation too!

Pet care experience

I have cared for animals since I can remember. I have had dogs, cats, guniea pigs, gerbils, and fish. I began fostering puppies and dogs in need at a young age with the help of my mom through PUPS Moosonee. We would care for them by bathing, administering medications for different illnesses (mange, fleas, parvo) fed and watered, walked, and made them feel at home. Once they were well enough, the organization would find homes for them and we would send them off to their families! My favourite memory from this time was delivering a litter of puppies ourselves to their new families at Christmas time. I have been casually cat sitting from time to time for friends and family around the area, and just recently adopted my own Spynx cat! I also have my wonderful dog Jupiter, who is a 7 year old female golden retriever/ rough collie mix. She has been my best friend since I brought her home and she is the friendliest girl around!

Emma was such a help during a busy time for us. Our dog really loved her company and she always kept us in the loop. You can tell she loves animals. Will definitely use her again in the future.

Emma is a wonderful person with a heart of gold who absolutely adores animals. She is great with cats, dogs, and anything in between. She is patient, observant, and has extensive knowledge about pets. I don’t know anyone else I would trust with my dog’s life more than I trust Emma.

Safety, trust & environment

If your dog is spending time with us at our home, they will be staying in a 2 bedroom apartment downtown. We consist of myself (a student), my mom (an elementary school teacher), my sphynx cat, and my dog. We are all friendly and just request that your pet gets along with all of us. We live on the second floor, so if you have an older dog they will need to be ok doing a flight of stairs. We do not have a fenced yard, so we do leashed walks on the trail across the street for bathroom breaks. If I am coming to your home, the care plan is completely up to you.

Information Emma L. would like to know about your pet

I will need to know your dogs temperament before hand. If your dog is staying with us it needs to be able to be around people, my dog and my cat. Your dog will need to be house trained, and friendly with other animals and people. Ideally, your dog will be moderate to low energy.

A typical day

A typical day for me and my pets is waking up in the morning & feeding breakfast, and taking outside for a quick bathroom break. When I get home, we typically go for a walk either downtown to a coffee shop, on a trail walk somewhere around town, or to the dog park! After our exercise, it’s usually time for dinner, and then one more bathroom break before bed.

My favourite past times include taking her on trail walks/hikes on all the wonderful nature trails in the area, crafting, and gardening! I am currently a student at Fleming College about to finish my first year. My schedule right now allows me to be home the majority of the day, with my longest school day being 6 hours away from home. A typical day for me is feeding the pets when I wake up for my classes, and taking my dog for a quick bathroom outside before I leave. When I get home, I will typically take her for a longer trail walk, or a walk through downtown where we like to stop in at a coffee shop, and then it’s home for dinner and one more bathroom break before bed.
