Many years of pet care experience
Pet care experience
I have lived with a family dog for most of my life and I took a much larger role in caring for our second dog as she came into our family when I was 13. In high school I was a nanny for multiple families, and I took care of the cats and dogs for each of those families. About a year ago I stayed at a coworker's house for 2 weeks to take care of her elderly cats when she was on vacation. I emptied their litter boxes 2x a day (as they used the boxes frequently), and I gave oral medications to one of the cats every day. I also have experience caring for hamsters as I had a pet hamster when I was 21. I have a major soft spot for animals - in February, I came across a stray cat in the freezing cold, he was clearly skinny and had frostbite, but he was the absolute sweetest. My great aunt helped me get him to the vet, she fostered him for a while, then decided she wanted to keep him herself! It's a win-win because now I can visit her and the kitty.
Reviews
It's wonderful Rover has such pet loving people to help. Emma did a great job caring for our cat on very short notice.
Emma has provided care to both my cat and dog. She is such a caring individual who presents a very non threatening approach. Her visits are timely and she's precise in following any instructions. Also, Emma is very cautious when walking my dog ; careful not to allow her to get too close to the curb or chew on debris along the way. I have used Emma's service multiple times and plan to continue in the future. I recommend her highly
Emma stayed with my two, 20 year old Siamese cats for over a week. These guys can be a lot I care for and Emma did such a good job. My one cat is loud and demands a lot of attention, and Emma stayed with him, took him for walks, and when I returned, he wasn’t all anxious like he usually is when I return from being away. She kept my place tidy too. When it comes to the frail nature of my cats health, she is very good at keeping you updated on any mood or health changes. I would trust her with an elderly animal, or any animal with a health condition. I was only sad when she moved out of my area and I couldn’t use her all the time anymore!

At my house, we have a small dog and we only take her out to potty with a leash and harness. We don't hook the leash onto her collar as she pulls very hard when she sees other dogs. We do not have a fenced in yard, but we wouldn't send her out alone anyway due to fear that a hawk could spot her in the yard alone and try to get her. When we are home, we take her out to potty every 2-4 hours, and when it's nice we walk her 2-3 times a day (short walks because she's a small dog with a flat face and a higher chance of overheating). In a client's home, I am willing and able to do just about anything that the pet owners would normally do with/for their dog, however I do not wish to walk any dogs off leash.

I would appreciate any necessary information pertaining to your pet's preferences, behaviors, quirks, or just anything that I should know about the pet that would be helpful.
A typical day
I have a small dog at home so we don't usually deviate from our short neighborhood walks, but I think this would be a great opportunity to branch out and explore new places with a dog that likes longer walks. I also love to just spend time giving dogs plenty of attention and belly rubs.

I am a radiography student at a college in Winona, however I just finished a clinical rotation and will be back and forth between the twin cities and Rochester for most of the summer. I do not have a job currently as I am moving around so much, and I am not sure where of the location of my next clinical rotation. I am hoping to get some experience with Rover because it will work best for me with my inconsistent schedule. From now (4/20) until the end of May, I will be in the Lakeville/Burnsville area. Starting at the end of May, I will be in Rochester ~Monday-Wednesday, but that is flexible as I only have in person class on Tuesdays.
