Pet care experience
I've been a Veterinary Technician since 2009 and an avid animal lover my whole life. Since I was little I knew I wanted to work with dogs and they've always held a special place in my heart. I have been rescuing and re-homing needy dogs, mostly from high-kill shelters in California, for about 12 years now. There is nothing more gratifying, than to see the relief and love on a dogs face when they know for sure they're completely out of harms way. I love ALL animals... However, dogs are my favorite and I'll always have a special place in my heart for the misunderstood breeds. The bully breeds. The Rottweiler, German Shepard, Pitt Bull, Dogo, Bulldogs etc. I just love their squishy faces and fun personalities. My husband and I also own a small art studio, located on Lopez Island, however we're able to do create our pieces here at our home in Midland. This gives us a unique advantage to be able to spend the vast majority of our time with the animals in our care. Why I love dog sitting I've loved animals since I was a little girl. I went to school for Veterinary Medicine right out of high school in 2002 and started working at a Veterinary clinic in 2003. I graduated from college with a certification as a Veterinary Assistant in 2003 and in 2008 I went back to become a Veterinary Technician. Dogs are a passion of mine and I still have yet to meet one that I don't like. Meet my pets We have little over an acre in Midland, WA where my husband and I share our mini farm with two rabbits, 10 chickens, 2 ducks, a Saint Bernard, Rottweiler, Lab Mix and a Pit Bull. Our back yard is completely separate from our front yard and both are completely fenced in. This is especially beneficial for dogs who may not like other dogs company. About my yard The pictures say it all... Our front yard is about a fourth of an acre, fully fenced and with the exception of one small plum tree, is all grass/gravel. Our back yard is an acre of grass, fully fenced with a willow tree towards the back of the property.

We love Emma!! She has taken care of our dog Kira on multiple occasions. From the first meeting we have felt comfortable with Emma. She has always communicated clearly and quickly in regards to her availability. Kira absolutely loves it when she gets to visit her friend Emma!
I would highly recommend Emma. I had never left Zeus and Rosco even overnight. Zeus is 7 and Rosco is 5. Emma was very kind and patient with my boys. They did not want to eat their food so Emma cooked them chicken and brown rice because she cared so much. I really appreciate Emma going that far for my babies.
Emma was WONDERFUL with Kai!! Kai is a Mama's girl and rarely leaves my side - so it was nice to have someone that cared so much look after her for a night!! THANK YOU EMMA!! :)
Emma kept in touch to send us how our dogs are doing with the pictures, and it helped us a lot. We are so lucky to find Emma, she and her husband are great.

Information Emma G. would like to know about your pet
The first and most important would be whether or not the dog is aggressive in any way. It's not necessarily a deal breaker but I would need to know immediately if the dog would need to be kept separate from the other dogs or not. The second would medical conditions, dietary restrictions etc. I would also like to know as much about the dogs personality and the owners, as I could before meeting in person. I do care for dogs with disabilities but may require an additional charge, depending on the maintenance.
A typical day
Every morning, we're up at 5:30 am to feed the outside animals. We then have outside play time, which consists of frisbee/ball fetch. Our dogs get about 30 minutes of exercise each morning, then everyone eats breakfast between 8-9 am. Sometimes if they're extra wound up and in need of more play time but the weather is bad, we play doggie board games inside. These games are strategy games and encourage problem solving and the use of all of their senses. If the weather is nice and everyone is antsy, we go back outside to play off our energy. Dinner is always served between 8-9 pm and everyone is let out one more time for bedtime potty at 9:30 pm. Then it's lights out. Your dog's sleeping arrangement depends fully on what you want and what each dog is most comfortable with. Some people do not want their dogs on furniture and I always strive to respect the wishes of the owner. If someone were to watch my dogs, I would want my dogs kenneled at night for their own protection. However, I'm very flexible. We have a guest bedroom upstairs as well, so if by chance, the dog is aggressive and needs to be alone but prefers to sleep in a bed, we can accommodate that. I'll spend as much of each day with each dog as I can. I go to school and work from home, so I can spend all day every day with them.
