Pet care experience
I am a 25 year old female working on my veterinary degree. I am in my third year of veterinary school at Iowa State University! I will graduate to hopefully become a general small animal practitioner in May of 2024. I have been working with dogs and cats for as long as I can remember but started working at various veterinary clinics 6 years ago. I work at an animal hospital in Omaha and I’ve gained a lot of experience over these past 4 years. I can administer medication (oral or injectable), trim nails, express anal glands, administer medication, provide enrichment, etc. I have worked as a dog/cat sitter as well as a dog walker more times than I can count throughout high school, college, and veterinary school. With all this being said, I am confident that I am incredibly well-equipped for this role and you can trust me to take care of your pets as if they were my own pets or patients in a veterinary clinic! I look forward to meeting you and your critters :)
Reviews
Emma was fantastic with our three pugs when we were traveling. I loved that she kept in contact and shared pictures while we were gone! She was attentive to their schedule and needs, especially our pug with special dietary/health needs. We would absolutely book with Emma again!
Emma took care of Gertie so well, I’m not even sure she missed me.
Gertie was so well cared for and loved. She let me know how everything was going at least once a day. Gertie says she wants Emma to come again!
Emma was thorough, thoughtful and went above and beyond to take care of our dog. She was proactive when anything went awry and kept us informed. Excellent communication! We hope to see her again soon!

I live in an apartment with two other female third-year veterinary students. It is pet friendly with large areas for walking and is set up perfectly for dogs to run around and play. In Ames, my roommates and I do not have any dogs or cats. However, one of my roommates has a bunny rabbit who lives in a big enclosure. I am a very proud dog mom to a 2-year-old female Golden Retriever that goes by the name of Millie! The best part about her is that she absolutely adores every living thing (i.e, humans, other dogs, cats, squirrels, etc.) and gets along with new animal friends who enjoy her company. I have a 4-year-old male neutered orange domestic shorthair cat named Ferguson. He is the biggest cuddle bug and loves to hide in cardboard boxes and inanimate objects that are discreet. Caring for animals is my career and quite literally, my passion :)

Information Emma D. would like to know about your pet
Please, let me know if your pet has any certain medical needs or special considerations that must be taken into account. Like I have mentioned previously, I am in my third year of veterinary school. I have learned a lot in my past three years and with that being said, I feel very confident in caring for animals who need any special attention or assistance, whether it be medical based, age-related discrepancies, etc. If there are any special dietary restrictions or considerations, I would appreciate being informed ahead of time or during our initial meet and greet visit. This will help me further prepare for the responsibility of watching your pet and ask any necessary questions that may not be explicitly explained. I ask this of you as a pet owner so I can take care of every single animal with the utmost care, patience, and love!
A typical day
In a typical day, I hope to take the dogs on a walk (depending on the owner preferences) and play with them/keep them positively occupied throughout the day. My golden retriever is a HUGE fan of playing fetch. With that being said, I am very skilled in that art if the dog so prefers it! I am pretty easy going. If a dog enjoys just laying around and having someone around to keep company, I am perfectly content with that, too!
