Loving sitter w/ rescue experience
Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of dogs for neighbors, friends, and at animal shelters since I was in high school. I was a trained volunteer at the local dog shelter in my hometown, where I volunteered for two years. At the shelter, my job included walking, socializing, and playing with shelter dogs for 2 hours each shift. I also fostered many rescue dogs with my family for years, so I have practice with behavioral challenges like skittishness and anxiety. I’m comfortable with puppies, seniors, and with large dogs! I’m greatly missing my family pul and looking for some dog love in my life! With the warmer weather, I’m also trying to get outside more. I have a large car and I’m comfortable transporting dogs for outdoor recreation if you don’t live in a walkable area. I also have experience with cat sitting for neighbors and coworkers. I currently live with a roommate who has a shy cat. With patience and gentle presence, I’ve developed a loving relationship with her!
Reviews
I highly recommend Emma as a cat sitter! My extremely shy cat, who usually hides from everyone, warmed up to her immediately. Emma is not only reliable but also incredibly kind and accommodating. It's evident that she genuinely cares for animals, and her gentle approach made my cat feel comfortable and loved in her presence. I trust Emma completely and am grateful for her exceptional care. I’ve also seen her with dogs (although not my own), and they have been just as happy and well taken care of.
To The Rover Team, I have had the pleasure of knowing Emma Bruce for 17 years. During this time I have watched her grow and blossom into a responsible, conscientious adult and professional. Emma has over the years cared for my Keeshond mix when he was healthy and when he was infirm. Suffering from kidney failure Emma was able to not only care for him but to administer all prescribed medications when she pet sit for him. Additionally, I volunteered for Pet for Vets Connecticut, fostering and training support dogs for veterans suffering from forms of PTSD. Emma assisted me successfully on this endeavor in approximately 3 placements. Emma from my personal and professional opinion will be an asset to anyone who is lucky enough to have them care for their pets. Lori Mazzola, Licensed Veterinary Assistant
Emma has years of experience working with dogs. She has volunteered at a local animal shelter and has fostered many dogs - a lot of whom needed extra love and attention. Emma has an innate way of connecting with animals - they sense her calm nature and in turn, trust and love her. I’ve seen Emma patiently work with nervous and scared dogs and earn their trust and affection. She would be a valuable resource walking and caring for anyone’s pet.

I have experience with dog and pet sitting in clients homes. I believe in learning the systems and routines that you use with your pets, and adhering as best as possible to those routines for your dog’s comfort. I also believe in building trust between myself and you as a client, and importantly, between myself and an animal. I consider it best practice to do at-home introductions with you present. When it comes to dog-reactive and human-reactive pets, my standard practice is to avoid contact between your pet and others for the duration of care.
Information Emma B. would like to know about your pet
Is your dog friendly with other dogs? Is your dog gentle with kids? What behaviors should I anticipate while walking your dog in public places?
A typical day
I’m willing to walk wherever your dog is comfortable! If big crowds aren’t okay, or if your dog has trouble with other dogs, we can walk on quiet residential streets. If your dog wants to play or meet lots of people, we can walk around the Smith college campus or play on the campus lawns!
