I've had all kinds of pets from a young age, from cockatiels to Cocker Spaniels. I'm great at paying attention to the particular needs of each individual and adjusting their care appropriately. I recently lost my dog of 12 years to lymphoma. In his younger years he had a ton of energy, so I'm used to burning that off with long walks, trips to the dog park, and enrichment like food puzzles. More recently he was a low energy cuddlebug, so I've mastered my couch potato skills. I'm happy to chill out and relax if that's more your dog's speed. I'm also comfortable administering medication and performing any noninvasive medical procedures.

We cannot thank Emily enough for taking care of Reggie for 12 days while we were out of town! She was so personable and has an obvious love for dogs. We loved her daily updates. Depending on the needs of your dog, I have a couple different options for ensuring they stay safe in my apartment. I'm home all day so they can have supervised access to the entire apartment when I'm here. If I leave, I can crate them or use a gate to keep them secure in a smaller area if need be. Note: I live in a walk up with 3 flights. I’m happy to assist smaller dogs but if you have a medium/large dog they should be comfortable using stairs.

Before I start caring for your pet I'd love to know if they are taking any medications, have any allergies, and are reactive or sensitive to dogs or other stimuli. Additionally, knowing what a day in your care looks like, e.g. diet, how many walks and when, favorite activities, etc., would be super helpful. Note: Because I live in an apartment I can’t host dogs who are very vocal. Occasional barking is ok but if your dog is very reactive to outside noises or when home alone I won’t be a good fit.
A typical day
I like to start the day with a walk and then break up the rest of the day with different activities. A favorite of mine is the game "Find It" where I hide treats or their favorite toy around my place and have them search for it. Fetch, tug-of-war, and belly rubs are also usually in rotation.

Availability
I work from home so there is plenty of time throughout the day for activities and bathroom breaks. Sometimes, I'll leave on weekday evenings for a couple hours or on the weekends for a few hours, but we can communicate to make sure your pet doesn't go without the care they need.
