Pet care experience
I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Animal Veterinary Science with minors in Business Administration and Wildlife, Fishery, Biology in May 2019. I am a reliable, personable, and highly responsible individual who cares deeply for the well being of my animals both mentally and physically. I have been training and taking care of friends/family dogs for the past few years and now that I have graduated I am ready to start taking on new clients. I have extensive knowledge and understanding of canine behavior which allows me to better serve the dogs I work with. I have lots of experience working with and walking all kinds of different dogs from large to small, outgoing to shy, and everything in between. I have used a variety of different tools and techniques to walk, care, and train dogs so I can work with whatever the dog needs. I have 3 personal dogs who are very dog social and friendly. I also have a large fenced back yard for them to run and play for hours with my dogs. However, my home is also set up for the availability to keep client dogs completely separate from my personal dogs if requested. I am a full-time dog trainer and caretaker so your dogs will get plenty of exercise and attention while they stay with me! My life revolves around my dogs and working with others to help them with their dogs whether it be training or caregiving.
Reviews
Emily is very patient with my cattle dog. Shadow is rather suspicious of new people, and Emily took the time to put him at ease and continue with working on his nervousness about new people and cars. I chose Emily because she has dog training experience and a smart dog like shadow who thinks he is working all the time needs the sort of attention she appears to calmly provide.
Emily took great care of Cindy. My dog had so much supervised play while with Emily that Cindy came home and found us kind of boring I think! Emily is a professional with dogs and I had no worries about Cindy while she was there.
Being new to the Anderson, SC area, I relied heavily on my adult daughter to take care of River, my fur baby, when needed. She was always willing, but sometimes not available, leaving me with a decision about whether to take River with me, or just not go. As I was familiar with Rover.com from my previous residence, I looked at possible options for a caregiver for River. Though many of the dog-loving sitters were closer to my home, when I read Emily's bio, her credentials stood out to me, and I decided to contact her. She responded immediately, and we set up our first meeting. It was clear that she not only loves dogs, she understands them. We connected immediately, River seemed quite content with our first meeting, which led to a trial overnight stay, which led to a week-long stay. Emily is wonderful! She was great in managing multiple rambunctious, playful, dogs in a way that allowed each to have special time, and River enjoyed the company of other dogs. No doubt, River will be a repeat guest. Thank you!
Emily is a wonderful sitter and good great care of our Golden Retriever while we were on vacation. She kept me updated during the week and included pictures and videos. My boy has arthritis in his hips. Emily watched out for him very carefully and administered all his meds. We will definitely be repeat clients. ❤️

Information Emily S. would like to know about your pet
Please bring a copy of the dogs shot/health records when they come to stay along with enough food for their entire stay. You can also bring any treats, toys, bedding, etc. that the dog may enjoy while here (although I have plenty of communal toys for them to play with). If your dog stays in a special crate (size-specific) please bring that as well, I do have an extra crate that can be used if needed. ***Please note: I do charge an additional $5/day for unaltered males, puppies under 1 year or dogs require special arrangements***
A typical day
Typically our days start between 6:30/7:30 am. They go out to potty then come back inside to eat then go back outside. If it's nice we will play outside for a good bit of the morning before it gets too hot. Early afternoon they typically come inside and take naps on the dog beds inside. Depending on the weather we will either spend the rest of the afternoon playing outside or they can hangout in the living area to play or nap. We typically feed dinner around 6/6:30. Then they go outside and play (weather permitting) for the evening. We typically go to bed around 10 pm with a long potty break right before bed. The only times we crate the dogs are at night, while eating, or if I am not home. I am a full-time dog trainer/caregiver so the maximum time I would be away from the house is a couple hours at a time. Other than that the dogs enjoy the freedom of the house or my large, tall fenced backyard. While they are outside I am either out with them or working at the table watching them through a large glass door. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask!
