I had Penny (Daschund) for nearly 12 years from when she was 5-17. From this relationship I learned how to care for elderly pets and provide comfort near their end of life. I currently have a cat, Tuxie who I found as a stray 4.5 years ago. I have 3+ years professional experience taking care of dogs. More recently, 1 year experience staying overnight for up to two weeks at a time caring for two dogs— Dugan (Wheaton Terrier) and Wendy (Australian Shepherd/Border Collie). Daily I would take them to an open field to play fetch and roam around (car provided). I prepared meals twice a day (brown rice and chicken mixtures) as well as hid treats, allowing the dogs to hunt and engage in play. We also went on 30 Minute walks at least once a day in addition to outdoor time in the backyard. Wendy being a rescue was very timid/skiddish of strangers, however she was comfortable and trusting of me. Occasionally, I would take them to appointments at the vet or groomers (car provided). Additionally, for two+ years I cared for Augi, a black lab, by taking him on walks and runs. I also fed him twice daily and provided house sitting overnight while the owners were out of town for extended periods of time.
