Happy Hiker Hound Lover

Pet care experience

I have loved animals forever and have always had a knack for caring for them. Now that I have established myself at our farm we have enough room for more! I have two medium sized dogs, both “super-mutts” (these were the exact words from the DNA test :) ). Half of our yard is fenced in and we have plans to fence in the entire yard soon. We also take our dogs on daily walks, 1 or 2x a day. We also have a very tame cat, named Alice, she is a gentle giant, and obviously is in charge here. I have experience working for a dog breeder, training her puppies and sitting for her "pack" of up to 15 Papillons, a Shetland Sheepdog, and a Poodle. I learned that each dog is different: requiring a different diet, a different strategy, and a different attitude. I have also sat for a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I learned that I have a knack for caring for large and intimidating breeds: the owners admitted that he could be a handful because of his excessive leash-pulling and intimidating size. I have taken many college biology and animal science courses that have helped me understand animal behavior and health. Knowing why a dog is behaving a certain way, makes it easier to know how to react. Understanding how an dog's body works makes it easier to know why certain foods or behaviors can be unhealthy. I would love the chance to exercise and care for your pup, so he/she is relaxed and happy when you return from work or vacation. Shadow and Spirit would love the chance to have a playmate and hiking partner too. Contact me and we'll get started!

Emily is a lovely active person whom I could tell right away loves dogs. She has an adorable little rescue named Shadow who is kind and gentle. Her home is lovely and Doc seemed comfortable right away settling for snuggles on the couch. I like that she works from home. She has a fenced in yard where Doc played with She and Shadow. She also loves to hike and that is especially great. She sent me pics of the pups throughout his stay which I really appreciated. Doc seemed happy and well cared for and so so am I.

Cole loves going over Emily's. He and her dog Shadow seem to get along well and they tire each other out. The first day I picked up Cole he didn't even care I was there to get him because he had so much fun! Definitely recommended.

Emily has always loved animals of all shapes and sizes! Growing up her house was always filled with dogs, cats, and birds. There were also horses and rabbits in the backyard. At one point there were two abandoned kittens and two baby birds to bottle feed. Emily's bed was always covered in dog and cat hair because she wanted them to sleep with her!! She's a natural with animals.

Emily did a great job dog sitting our two dogs. She clearly enjoys interacting with animals and they seem to like her just as much. She's gentle and kind with dogs and they respond to her well.

A typical day

We usually start our morning with a walk around the neighborhood. We also frequently will take hikes at Burr Pond which is 3 minutes down the hill. We let our dogs out at least 8 times a day and the yard has a plethora of toys for entertainment. We are even lucky enough to have a whole “dog room”, where we keep their crates and food etc.
