I’m Emily, your dog’s future favorite sitter. He/she is probably staring at you right now with those puppy eyes, willing you to trust your beloved fur baby to me. And I have to say, I agree — your dog is a smart one — because I am highly skilled in cuddles, walks, frisbee and I don’t want to brag or anything, but I could probably beat the record of the most tennis balls thrown. Just saying. On to the more professional, as it’s not all snuggled and wet kisses, I have 5 years experience volunteering at two local animal shelters. I have individually fostered 3 dogs while they waited for their furever homes, and stayed in contact with their parents. What I most looked forward to as a child was growing up and having any dog I wanted, and not rehoming them like my mom did. Twice. (Still haven’t fully forgiven her, to be honest.) My heart found its way to a chocolate lab rescue and I had my boy for 10 glorious years filled with LOTS of water, muddy paws, snoring (his, not mine) and love. He passed away in June 2017 and I miss him everyday. My approach to dog sitting is treating them as I would want someone to treat my own. So if you don’t let your dog on the couch or bed, that’s cool, I’ll resist the urge. But if you do, even better. I have experience with skin irritations, food allergies and administering medication in the most creative ways possible. I’m happy to have an open dialogue with you in what you’re looking for in a sitter. If that’s not me, that’s ok. I want what is best for your dog.
